The King's Face
''The King's Face'' (; Hanja: 王의 얼굴) is a 2014 South Korean television series starring Seo In-guk, Jo Yoon-hee, Lee Sung-jae, Kim Gyu-ri and Shin Sung-rok. It aired on KBS2 from November 19, 2014 to February 5, 2015 on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 21:55 for 23 episodes. Plot Gwanghae, the child of a concubine, becomes the Crown Prince of Joseon. For the next 16 years, the illegitimate prince lives through turbulent times, enduring death threats and possible dethronement. Gwanghae has a contentious relationship with his father King Seonjo, and the two eventually become rivals in politics and love. Using physiognomy as a weapon and means to gain power, Gwanghae enlists a face-reading fortuneteller to help him become the next King. Prince Imhae
Prince Imhae (20 September 1572 – 3 June 1609; personal name Yi Jin, childhood name Yi Jin-Guk), was a Joseon Royal Prince as the eldest son of Seonjo of Joseon, King Seonjo and the elder brother of Gwanghaegun of Joseon, King Gwanghae. He was known for have such a violent and arrogant personality, which he murdered some government officials alongside his half brothers: Prince Jeongwon (정원군) and Prince Sunhwa (순화군), but were survived under their father's protection. Also, when his depravity lead to government officials demanded severe punishment for his actions, he was able avoid such punishment by his father's protection too. However, he was passed over for the Crown Prince's role in favour of his younger brother who would eventually take the throne and became Gwanghaegun of Joseon, King Gwanghae. Princess Munseong (15 August 1576 – 31 October 1623), of the Munhwa Yu clan, was the wife and queen consort of Yi Hon, King Gwanghae, the 15th Joseon monarch. She was queen consort of Joseon from 1608 until her husband's deposition in 1623, after which she was known as Deposed Queen Yu. Queen Uiin (의인왕후 박씨; 5 May 1555 – 5 August 1600), of the Bannam Park clan, was a posthumous name bestowed to the first wife and first queen consort of Yi Yeon, King Seonjo, the 14th Joseon monarch. Kim Gae-si (Hangul: 김개시, Hanja: 金介屎; died 1623) or formally called Court Lady Kim (Hangul: 상궁 김씨, Hanja: 尙宮 金氏) was a Court Lady during the Joseon Dynasty of Korea, who became a concubine of King Seonjo and later of his son, Gwanghae, after Seonjo death. During the latter's reign, she intervened in state affairs and wielded power, but was beheaded after Gwanghae's deposition from the throne.
