The Joy Of Text
''The Joy of Text'' was a themed night of television programmes centred on text messaging, shown on BBC One. It was broadcast on 9 June 2001, and featured three TV programmes: ''The Joy of Text: Live'', ''Text Maniacs'' and ''X Text''. The first programme, ''The Joy of Text: Live'', was a 40-minute entertainment variety show hosted by Ulrika Jonsson and Terry Alderton, featuring celebrity guests and text-related games. This was followed by ''Text Maniacs'', a documentary looking at surprising examples of text messaging use. ''X Text'', the final programme, looked at the seedier side of texting. ''The Joy of Text'' received negative reviews from media commentators, who criticised the night for its poor script and lack of entertaining content. ''Stars in Their Eyes'' is a British television talent series, based on Joop van den Ende's Dutch format ''Soundmixshow''. It featured a singing contest in which members of the public impersonate showbiz stars. The show premiered on 21 July 1990 and initially ran until 23 December 2006. It was produced by Granada for ITV and originally presented by Leslie Crowther. Matthew Kelly took over in May 1993, before he was replaced by Cat Deeley in April 2004. An Elvis Presley special hosted by Russ Abbot aired in January 1993, as well as 2003 specials hosted by Davina McCall. ITV is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network. It was launched in 1955 as Independent Television to provide competition to BBC Television (established in 1936). BBC Two
