''The Jackson 5 in Japan'', also known as ''In Japan!'', is the first live album released by the Jackson 5, culled from a live concert held in Osaka, Japan at the Kōsei Nenkin Hall (now known as the Orix Theatre) on April 30, 1973. It was initially released in Japan on October 31, 1973, and was later released in the United Kingdom in 1988 as ''Michael Jackson with the Jackson 5 Live''. Motown did not release the album in the United States until a limited-edition version was released in 2004, via specialty reissue label Hip-O Select. A quadrophonic mix was released in Japan in 1975, marking an early release of the band's material in surround sound. Surround sound is a technique for enriching the fidelity and depth of sound reproduction by using multiple audio channels from speakers that surround the listener ( surround channels). Its first application was in movie theaters. Prior to surround sound, theater sound systems commonly had three ''screen channels'' of sound that played from three loudspeakers (left, center, and right) located in front of the audience. Elliot A. Willensky (August 6, 1943 – March 29, 2010) was an American composer, lyricist and music producer. He wrote Michael Jackson's first solo hit "Got to Be There" and the Jermaine Jackson/Whitney Houston duet "If You Say My Eyes Are Beautiful." Willensky composed the music for the 1999 off-Broadway musical ''Abby's Song'' and served as the music coordinator for the Tony Orlando and Dawn variety show on CBS. Biography He was born in Bayonne, New Jersey on August 6, 1943, to Raymond Willensky and Gertrude Berlin. He attended Bayonne High School and graduated from Boston University with a degree in biology. Clifton Duncan Davis (born October 4, 1945) is an American actor, singer, songwriter, minister, and author. Davis wrote The Jackson 5's No. 2 hit "Never Can Say Goodbye" in 1971. He appeared on Broadway in the musicals '' Two Gentlemen of Verona'' and '' Aladdin''. Davis starred in the television shows ''That's My Mama, Amen,'' '' Madam Secretary'', and others. Rare Earth was an American rock band from Detroit, Michigan.
