The Island Monster
''The Island Monster'' (Italian: ''Il mostro dell'isola''/ ''The Monster of the Island'') is a 1954 Italian thriller film directed by Roberto Bianchi Montero and starring Boris Karloff, Franca Marzi and Germana Paolieri. It was made at Cinecitta Studios with location shooting taking place on the island of Ischia. Plot Don Gaetano, an apparently respectable man but the leader of a gang of traffickers, kidnaps a little girl to force a policeman not to investigate; the latter, aided by a woman of the gang, frees the child and arrests the criminals. Roberto Bianchi Montero
Roberto Bianchi Montero (7 December 1907 - 7 December 1986) was an Italian actor, director and screenwriter. Life and career Born in Rome, Bianchi Montero started acting as a teenager on stage and he was a member of an amateur theater group with whom he performed in several festivals. In 1930 he entered the stage company of Ettore Petrolini, and in 1934 he founded his own company. In 1936 he got his first film role, and in the late 1930s he also was assistant director for a number of films. After the Second World War, Bianchi Montero directed numerous genre films, usually low-budget productions, in which he often also collaborated to the screenplays. He particularly specialized in melodramas, Spaghetti Westerns and Commedia sexy all'italiana films. He was the father of the director Mario Bianchi. Jole Fierro
Jole Fierro (22 November 1926 – 27 March 1988) was an Italian actress. Born in Salerno, Fierro made her debut in the early 1950s in the Neapolitan dialect theater, and shortly later she made her first appearances in films. In June 1954, she acted in the surreal comedy play written and directed by Dario Fo ''I sani da legare'', then, in the autumn of the same year, she entered the prestigious stage company of Eduardo De Filippo, with whom she achieved some large success. She was also critically appreciated for her performances in ''Miseria e nobiltà'' by Mario Scarpetta and in ''Palummella zompa e vola'' by Antonio Petito. Fierro had a significant career in Italian television, where she starred in dozens of television films and series, while her film career was mainly limited to character roles.
