''The Irresistible Man'' (german: Der Unwiderstehliche) is a 1937 German romantic comedy film directed by Géza von Bolváry and starring Anny Ondra, Hans Söhnker, and Trude Hesterberg. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Emil Hasler Emil Hasler (November 8, 1901 – January 15, 1986) was a German art director who worked on more than a hundred films during his career. Géza Von Bolváry
Géza von Bolváry (born Géza Gyula Mária Bolváry Zahn, german: Géza Maria von Bolváry-Zahn; 26 December 1897 – 10 August 1961) was a Hungarians, Hungarian actor, screenwriter, and film director, who worked principally in Germany and Austria. Biography Géza von Bolváry was born in Budapest. He attended the Imperial Military Academy in Budapest and subsequently served in the Hungarian army (Honved Hussars). After World War I he left military service with the rank of Royal Hungarian ''Rittmeister''. He then earned his living in the new Hungarian film industry. He began his career in about 1920 as an actor in various silent films, but soon changed to the Star-Film company, where he was first active as a director and made his debut as director and screenwriter with ''A Kétarcú asszony''. Edith Meinhard
Edith Meinhard was a German actress who appeared in more than fifty films during her career including the 1929 film ''Diary of a Lost Girl''. Life and Work Little is known about Edith Meinhard, although in the 1930s she was one of the busiest actresses in Germany. Grisette (person)
The word grisette (sometimes spelled grizette) has referred to a French working-class woman from the late 17th century and remained in common use through the Belle Époque era, albeit with some modifications to its meaning. It derives from ''gris'' ( French for grey), and refers to the cheap grey fabric of the dresses these women originally wore. The 1694 edition of the ''Dictionnaire de l'Académie française'' described a grisette as simply "a woman of lowly condition". By the 1835 edition of the dictionary, her status had risen somewhat. She was described as: a young working woman who is coquettish and flirtatious. This usage can be seen in one of Oliver Wendell Holmes' early poems "Our Yankee Girls" (1830): the gay grisette, whose fingers touch love's thousand chords so well. ...
