The Invisible Power
''The Invisible Power'' is a 1921 American crime film, crime melodrama film directed by Frank Lloyd and released by Goldwyn Pictures. Plot As described in a film magazine, Sid Chambers (Peters), a thief, is released from prison and rejoins his pals at a Greek restaurant. He finds his former second story man Bob Drake (Ainsworth), without funds as he has developed a cough that discloses his whereabouts. The two crooks go to the country where Sid falls in love with a young woman, Laura Chadwick (Rich), who wants him to go straight. He becomes a travelling salesman and they live quietly in a small cottage until detective Mark Shadwell (Jennings) shows up. Shadwell has been pressured by his chief to make a showing in a big necklace robbery, so he arrests Sid and sends him back to prison. Frank Lloyd
Frank William George Lloyd (2 February 1886 – 10 August 1960) was a British-born American film director, actor, scriptwriter, and producer. He was among the founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and was its president from 1934 to 1935. Biography Lloyd was born in Glasgow, Scotland. His mother Jane was Scottish and his father Edmund was Welsh. Lloyd started his career as a singer and stage actor in London. He is Scotland's first Academy Award winner and is unique in film history, having received three Oscar nominations in 1929 for his work on a silent film (''The Divine Lady''), a part-talkie (''Weary River'') and a full talkie ('' Drag''). He won for ''The Divine Lady''. Lydia Yeamans Titus (12 December 1857 – 30 December 1929) was an Australian-born American singer, dancer, comedienne, and actress who had a lengthy career in vaudeville and cinema. She was remembered on stage for her ''Baby-Talk'' act and a popular rendition of the English ballad, ''Sally in Our Alley''. In appreciation, King Edward VII once presented Titus a gold bar pin with the opening notes of ''Sally in Our Alley'' etched in diamonds. In later life Titus became a pioneer in the medium of film appearing in at least 132 motion pictures between 1911 and 1930. Gertrude Claire
Gertrude Claire (July 16, 1852 – April 28, 1928) was an actress of the American stage and Hollywood silent motion pictures. Biography Claire was born in Chicago, Illinois, and began appearing onstage at the age of 16. She played minor roles in New York City. In the coming years she began to play leads. Among the actors of note she played with John Drew Jr., Edwin Booth, and Richard Mansfield. She began work in films while the industry was still based in New York. Then she moved to Hollywood, where she was part of the first motion picture playing company organized there. Claire had roles in 123 films beginning in 1910 and continuing until 1928. Her last appearance in movies was in the Clara Bow feature film ''Red Hair'' (1928). On April 28, 1928, Claire died at her home in Hollywood, aged 76.
