The Impressionable Jon Culshaw
''The Impressionable Jon Culshaw'' is a satire sketch show starring the impressionist Jon Culshaw, made by Ronin Entertainment. A deal with ITV enabled Culshaw to make this while simultaneously starring in BBC Two's '' Dead Ringers''. He also starred in the show ''Alter Ego'', which was shown on ITV and was made prior to ''The Impressionable Jon Culshaw''. The show ran for six episodes in one series from 25 February to 31 March 2004. The show has been criticised for having too many impressions, with some feeling that Culshaw did not do some of the characters justice. This is unsurprising, as Culshaw's repertoire of impressions numbers over 350. Culshaw used most of the impressions that featured on ''Dead Ringers'', but there were some new ones. Jon Culshaw
Jonathan Peter Culshaw (born 2 June 1968) is an English actor, comedian and impressionist. He is best known for his work on the radio comedy '' Dead Ringers'' since 2000. Culshaw has voiced a number of characters for ITV shows including ''2DTV'' (2001), ''Spitting Image'' (1994–96) and ''Newzoids'' (2015–2016), as well as appearing in ''The Impressions Show with Culshaw and Stephenson, The Impressions Show'' alongside Debra Stephenson from 2009 until 2011. Early life and career Culshaw was born on 2 June 1968 in Ormskirk, Lancashire, and educated at St Bede's RC High School and St John Rigby College, Wigan, St John Rigby College, Wigan. Culshaw's radio career began in hospital radio in Ormskirk. An impressionist or a mimic is a performer whose act consists of imitating sounds, voices and mannerisms of celebrities and cartoon characters. The word usually refers to a professional comedian/entertainer who specializes in such performances and has developed a wide repertoire of impressions, including adding to them, often to keep pace with current events. Impressionist performances are a classic casino entertainment genre. Someone who imitates one particular person without claiming a wide range, such as a lookalike, is instead called an impersonator. Sir Trevor McDonald (born George McDonald; 16 August 1939) is a Trinidadian-British newsreader and journalist, best known for his career as a news presenter with ITN. McDonald was knighted in 1999 for his services to journalism. Career Early career Trevor McDonald was born on 16 August 1939 in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago, to Josephine and Lawson McDonald. ''Dead Ringers'' is a British radio and television comedy impressions show broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and later BBC Two. The programme was devised by producer Bill Dare and developed with Jon Holmes, Andy Hurst and Simon Blackwell. Among its stars was Jan Ravens.
