The Impossible Planet
"The Impossible Planet" is the eighth episode of the second series of the British science fiction television series '' Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast on BBC One on 3 June 2006. It is the first part of a two-part story. The second part, "The Satan Pit", was broadcast on 10 June. The episode is set on Krop Tor, a planet orbiting a black hole. In the episode, a human expedition group drilling on the planet is terrorised by a creature calling itself the Beast ( Gabriel Woolf), which possesses the Ood slaves in the humans' base. Plot The TARDIS arrives aboard a sanctuary base used for deep-space expeditions. The Tenth Doctor and Rose explore the area, discovering strange alien writing that the TARDIS is unable to translate, meaning that it is "impossibly old". Simon Winstone
Simon Winstone is a British author, screenwriter and script editor, best known for his work on ''Doctor Who'' and on the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders''. Career Winstone worked for Virgin Books, overseeing their Missing Adventures ''Doctor Who'' series and briefly being in charge of the New Adventures after the series had ceased being a ''Doctor Who'' tie-in. His only novel, the New Adventure '' Where Angels Fear'', was co-written with Rebecca Levene, his predecessor on the New Adventures. Winstone moved into TV in the late 1990s, working on the popular ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale'' for a period. Legion (demon)
Legion means a large group or in another parlance it may mean "many". In the Bible, it was used to refer to the group of demons, particularly those in two of three versions of the exorcism of the Gerasene demoniac, an account in the New Testament of an incident in which Jesus performs an exorcism. Development of the story The earliest version of this story exists in the Gospel of Mark, described as taking place in "the country of the Gerasenes". Jesus encounters a possessed man and calls on the demon to emerge, demanding to know its name – an important element of traditional exorcism practice. He finds the man is possessed by a multitude of demons who give the collective name of "Legion". TARDIS
The TARDIS (; acronym for "Time And Relative Dimension In Space") is a fictional hybrid of the time machine and spacecraft that appears in the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'' and its various spin-offs. Its exterior appearance mimics a police box, an obsolete type of telephone kiosk that was once commonly seen on streets in Britain. Paradoxically, its interior is shown as being much larger than its exterior, commonly described as being "bigger on the inside". Black Hole
A black hole is a region of spacetime where gravity is so strong that nothing, including light or other electromagnetic waves, has enough energy to escape it. The theory of general relativity predicts that a sufficiently compact mass can deform spacetime to form a black hole. The boundary of no escape is called the event horizon. Murray Jonathan Gold (born 28 February 1969) is an English composer for stage, film, and television and a dramatist for both theatre and radio.
