The Immortal (2018 Film)
''The Immortal'' ( vi, Người Bất Tử) is a 2018 Vietnamese film directed by Victor Vu. The twelfth feature film by Vu, it tells the story of a man who has lived across three centuries after making himself immortal through dark magic. US premiered at the 11th Viet Film Fest in 2019 and won the Award for Best Cinematography for a Feature film. Synopsis The film opens with scene An (Đinh Ngọc Diệp) constantly sleepwalking, every time she wakes up she is in a distant place. Looking for solutions to these strange dreams, and at the same time finding a way to save the daughter who is slowly dying of cancer. Victor Vu
Victor Vu (; born November 25, 1975) is a Vietnamese-American film director, writer and producer. Along with critical acclaims, news media and public opinion have also accused Vu of plagiarism. In Vietnam's landmark first official plagiarism investigation, Vietnamese regulators found Vu's film ''Inferno'' to have copied Hollywood's 1991 film ''Shattered''. This resulted in ''Inferno's'' disqualification from Vietnam's Golden Kite Awards. Vu called a press conference to try misinform Vietnamese public that in Hollywood, such identical similarities are the obligatory result of using Hollywood filmmaking method. He also directed the 2019 hit film, Mắt Biếc, which won many awards and brought him back to the spotlight. First started in 2003, the Vietnamese International Film Festival (also known as ViFF) is a biennial film festival organized by the non-profits Vietnamese-American Arts & Letters Association (VAALA) and University of California, Los Angeles, UCLAs VietNamese Language and Culture (VNLC). ''Tuổi Trẻ'' ("Youth", ) is a major daily newspaper in Vietnam, publishing in Vietnamese from Hồ Chí Minh City.
