Paul Westerberg
Paul Harold Westerberg (born December 31, 1959) is an American musician, best known as the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter for the Replacements. Following the breakup of the Replacements, Westerberg launched a solo career that saw him release three albums on major record labels. Following the release of his third solo album, Westerberg has been mostly releasing music that he has self-produced and recorded in his basement home studio. He has also released two albums and an EP under the pseudonym Grandpaboy. In 2017, Westerberg released songs on SoundCloud as User 964848511 and on Bandcamp as Dry Wood Garage. Career The Replacements In the late 1970s, Westerberg was working as a janitor for U.S. Senator David Durenberger, and one day while walking home from work, he heard a band practicing Yes's "Roundabout" in a basement. Juliana Hatfield
Juliana Hatfield (born July 27, 1967) is an American musician and singer-songwriter from the Boston area, formerly of the indie rock bands Blake Babies, Some Girls (band), Some Girls, and The Lemonheads. She also fronted her own band, The Juliana Hatfield Three, along with bassist Dean Fisher and drummer Todd Philips, which was active in the mid-1990s and again in the mid-2010s. It was with the Juliana Hatfield Three that she produced her best-charting work, including the critically acclaimed albums ''Become What You Are'' (1993) and ''Whatever, My Love'' (2015) and the singles "My Sister (Juliana Hatfield song), My Sister" (1993) and "Spin the Bottle" (1994). She has performed and recorded as a solo artist and as one half of Get There (Minor Alps album), Minor Alps with Matthew Caws of Nada Surf. ''Wild Stab is the 2016 debut album from American rock music duo the I Don't Cares, made up of alternative rock singer-songwriters Juliana Hatfield and Paul Westerberg. The album contains a mix of songs: original material written by the duo, "never-before-heard gems from Westerberg’s basement archive, and re-recorded solo tunes from his back catalog." It has received positive reviews from critics. Critical reception The editorial staff of AllMusic Guide gave the album four out of five stars, with review Stephen Thomas Erlewine praised the musicians' opportunity to have fun with the recording, summing up his review, "All the mess, from its demo-quality fidelity to its throwaways, is intentional and the album is better for it: it's two old pros having a good time, so it's hard not to have a good time too".
