Humanoid
A humanoid (; from English ''human'' and ''-oid'' "resembling") is a non-human entity with human form or characteristics. The earliest recorded use of the term, in 1870, referred to indigenous peoples in areas colonized by Europeans. By the 20th century, the term came to describe fossils which were morphologically similar, but not identical, to those of the human skeleton. Although this usage was common in the sciences for much of the 20th century, it is now considered rare. More generally, the term can refer to anything with distinctly human characteristics or adaptations, such as possessing opposable anterior forelimb- appendages (i.e. thumbs), visible spectrum-binocular vision (i.e. having two eyes), or biomechanic plantigrade-bipedalism (i.e. the ability to walk on heels and metatarsals in an upright position). Science fiction media frequently present sentient extraterrestrial lifeforms as humanoid as a byproduct of convergent evolution. In theoretical convergent evolu ...

Humanoid Robotics Project
The Humanoid Robotics Project (HRP) is a project for development of general domestic helper robots, sponsored by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), spearheaded by Kawada Industries and supported by the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Inc. The HRP series also goes by the name Promet. The HRP should not be confused with the HOAP series (Humanoid for Open Architecture Platform), which is manufactured by Fujitsu. Features and technology The project started with three Honda P series, Honda P3 which were bought from Honda. And, the project developed them as the HRP-1 with original features, such as telecommand system. An interesting feature HRP-2 has is the ability to stand up again after lying flat on the floor, either on its back or front—something Honda's ASIMO is not able to do. The Humanoids
"With Folded Hands ..." is a 1947 science fiction novelette by American writer Jack Williamson. Willamson's influence for this story was the aftermath of World War II and the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and his concern that "some of the technological creations we had developed with the best intentions might have disastrous consequences in the long run." The novelette, which first appeared in the July 1947 issue of ''Astounding Science Fiction'', was included in ''The Science Fiction Hall of Fame, Volume Two'' (1973) after being voted one of the best novellas up to 1965. It was the first of several ''Astounding'' stories adapted for NBC's radio series '' Dimension X''. The story was followed by a novel-length rewrite, with a different setting and inventor and, at the behest of ''Astounding'' editor-in-chief John W. Campbell, an ending that shows the robots being defeated by means of psionics In American science fiction of the 1950s and 1960s, psionics was a prop ...

Vena Sera
''Vena Sera'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band Chevelle, released on April 3, 2007, through Epic Records. Many of the tracks on this album were based on material from unreleased songs the band had previously recorded. The term "Vena Sera" is ungrammatical Latin for "vein liquids". ''Vena Sera'' is the first Chevelle album with bassist Dean Bernardini, the brother-in-law of fellow members Pete and Sam Loeffler. It would also be the second and final album produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette, marking the first time Chevelle maintained the same producer for a second record. The first single, " Well Enough Alone", was released to radio stations on February 13, 2007, but a CD single would not be available until March 6. The album debuted at number 12 in the United States with sales of approximately 62,000. This was less than their previous album, ''This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)''. On May 28, 2020, it was certified gold with sales of over 500,000 units sold. ...

Hominidae
The Hominidae (), whose members are known as the great apes or hominids (), are a taxonomic family of primates that includes eight extant species in four genera: '' Pongo'' (the Bornean, Sumatran and Tapanuli orangutan); ''Gorilla'' (the eastern and western gorilla); '' Pan'' (the chimpanzee and the bonobo); and ''Homo'', of which only modern humans remain. Several revisions in classifying the great apes have caused the use of the term ''"hominid"'' to vary over time. The original meaning of "hominid" referred only to humans (''Homo'') and their closest extinct relatives. However, by the 1990s humans, apes, and their ancestors were considered to be "hominids". The earlier restrictive meaning has now been largely assumed by the term ''"hominin"'', which comprises all members of the human clade after the split from the chimpanzees (''Pan''). The current meaning of "hominid" includes all the great apes including humans. Usage still varies, however, and some scientists and la ...
