"The Howling" is a song by Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation. It was released as an EP on 1 May 2007, exclusively at Hot Topic stores in the United States. It was also used as the second promotional single for ''The Heart of Everything'', digitally released in the United Kingdom while " Frozen" was released elsewhere in Europe. History "The Howling" was the first song revealed from Within Temptation's album ''The Heart of Everything''. It was written to promote the video game '' The Chronicles of Spellborn''. A video trailer for the game using "The Howling" was released in 2006. The band also played the song live at several occasions in 2006. On 1 May 2007, before ''The Heart of Everything'' was released in the United States, an EP for the song went on sale there. After being available for a few hours, the EP had already sold out on the Hot Topic website. Within Temptation
Within Temptation is a Dutch symphonic metal band founded in April 1996 by vocalist Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt. They have been classified by critics as gothic metal and symphonic metal, although each album contains other influences outside these genres. Martijn Spierenburg
Martijn Spierenburg (born 30 January 1975) is a composer and arranger. He is also keyboard player for the Dutch symphonic rock band Within Temptation. In 2018, it was announced that he would be the composer for the musical "Nieuw Amsterdam", which describes the role of the Dutch during the emergence of the city of New York, back in the Golden Age. This piece will be the successor to the successful Dutch piece "Soldaat van Oranje". Spierenburg has written and arranged music for several (international) artists, TV series and games. Robert Westerholt (born 2 January 1975) is a Dutch musician, known as the guitarist and co-founder of the symphonic metal band Within Temptation. He also writes music for the band along with his partner and band vocalist Sharon den Adel. He used to work in human resource management before his career with Within Temptation. ''The Heart of Everything'' is the fourth studio album by Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation, released by GUN Records on 12 March 2007 in Europe. It was released in North America on 18 June 2007 by Roadrunner Records.
