''The Horizon'' (russian: Горизонт, Gorizont) is a 1961 Soviet drama film directed by Iosif Kheifits. Plot The film tells about a group of young guys who go to the virgin lands, start working there and create favorable conditions for future virgin soil. Iosif Yefimovich Kheifits ( be, Іосіф Яўхімавіч Хейфіц; – 24 April 1995) was a Soviet film director, winner of two Stalin Prizes (1941, 1946), People's Artist of USSR (1964), Hero of Socialist Labor (1975). Member of the Communist Party of Soviet Union since 1945. Life and career Kheifets was born 17 December 1905 in Minsk. In 1927 he graduated from the Leningrad Technical-screen art, and in 1928 - cinema faculty of Institute of History of Art. In 1928, Iosif Kheifets came to work at the film studio "Sovkino" (now - Lenfilm Studio). In film, he first made his debut as a screenwriter, with Aleksandr Ivanov and Aleksandr Zarkhi he created the scripts for films "Moon on the left" and "Transportation of fire". Valery Benediktovich Nosik (Валерий Бенедиктович Носик, 9 October 1940, Moscow, USSR, — 4 January 1995, Moscow, Russian Federation) was a Soviet Russian film and stage actor, the People's Artist of Russia (1994) who appeared in more than 100 films, as well as in numerous stage productions at the Moscow Pushkin Drama (1965-1972) and the Maly Theatres (1972-1995). Biography Valery Nosik was born in 1940 to Benedict Nosek, a Pole who in the 1900s came to settle in Ukraine, and 'simplified' his surname by changing a letter. Biography Bulgakova was born on 19 May 1932 in the village of Buki (now the Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine). In 1941 the Bulgakov family moved to Kramatorsk, to this place they later returned from evacuation.
