The High School, Dublin
The High School is a 12–18 mixed, Church of Ireland, independent secondary school in Rathgar, Dublin, Ireland. It was established in 1870 at Harcourt Street before moving to Rathgar in 1971 and amalgamated with The Diocesan School for Girls in 1974, becoming co-educational. In 2009, it was ranked as the best-performing school in Ireland in terms of progression to third-level education. It is part of the Erasmus Smith Trust. Rathgar
Rathgar (), is a suburb of Dublin in Ireland. It was originally a village which from 1862 was part of the township of Rathmines and Rathgar; it was absorbed by the growing city and became a suburb in 1930. It lies about three kilometres south of the city centre. Location Rathgar is situated in the southside of Dublin. It lies beside Dartry, Harold's Cross, Rathmines, and Terenure. Other nearby suburbs are Crumlin, Kimmage, Milltown, Ranelagh, and Rathfarnham. The Grand Canal flows to the north. Howard Kilroy
Howard Kilroy (30 January 1936 – 17 May 2019) was an Irish accountant and businessman. He was a governor of the Bank of Ireland, CFO of Smurfit Kappa and board member at Cement Roadstone Holdings (CRH). Philip Orr
Philip Andrew Orr (born 14 December 1950) is a former Irish international and British and Irish Lions Rugby Union loosehead prop. Orr was born in Dublin. Educated at The High School, Dublin and Trinity College Dublin, he played for Old Wesley for over 20 years and was, for many years, his country's most-capped prop with a then world record 58 appearances. Orr made his debut against France in 1976 and was part of the Irish teams that won a Triple Crown in 1982 and 1985. He toured with the Lions to New Zealand in 1977, winning one cap, and was a replacement during the tour of South Africa in 1980. However, Orr was not available for the 1983 tour to the same country due to business reasons. He retired from international rugby in 1987, having played for Ireland in the inaugural rugby world cup. Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh
Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh (born 28 August 1979) is a fiddler, born in Dublin, Ireland, who attended Trinity College Dublin, becoming a Scholar in Theoretical Physics (1999) and earning a First Class BA degree (as the top student of his class) in 2001. He is known for developing a drone-based fiddle style heavily influenced by the uilleann pipes and the music of Sliabh Luachra. Ó Raghallaigh spent several summers working part- and full-time in the Irish Traditional Music Archives in Dublin, opening up a wealth of old recordings which influenced his repertoire and style. Shane O'Donoghue (field Hockey)
Shane O'Donoghue (born 24 November 1992) is an Irish field hockey player who holds the prestigious accolade of Ireland's record goal scorer with 110 goals to date. He is the player-coach for his boyhood club Glennane and plays in the midfield for both Glenanne and the Irish national team. David Norris (politician)
David Patrick Bernard Norris (born 31 July 1944) is an Irish scholar, independent Senator and civil rights activist. Internationally, Norris is credited with having "managed, almost single-handedly, to overthrow the anti-homosexuality law which brought about the downfall of Oscar Wilde", a feat he achieved in 1988 after a fourteen-year campaign. He has also been credited with being "almost single-handedly responsible for rehabilitating James Joyce in once disapproving Irish eyes". Norris is a former university lecturer and a member of the Oireachtas, serving in Seanad Éireann since 1987. He was the first openly gay person to be elected to public office in Ireland. William Noblett
The Venerable William Alexander Noblett (known informally as Nobby), CBE (born 16 April 1953) is an Anglo-Irish retired Anglican priest and manager. He was Chaplain-General of Prisons from 2001 to 2011. The Venerable Noblett was educated at The High School, Dublin, Southampton University, and Salisbury & Wells Theological College, with a B.Th. from Southampton in 1978, graduating with an M.Th. in Applied Theology at Oxford University in 1998. Annalise Murphy (born 1 February 1990) is an Irish sailor who won a silver medal in the 2016 Summer Olympics. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo 2021, in Laser Radial. Alison Meeke (born 7 June 1991), also referred to as Ali Meeke, is an Ireland women's field hockey international.
