The Hermitage (Tillery, North Carolina)
The Hermitage, also known as Tillery House, is a historic plantation house located near Tillery, Halifax County, North Carolina. It was built about 1810, and is a tripartite house that consists of a two-story, three-bay, pedimented central block flanked by one-story, two-bay, wings. An exterior end chimney rises at the end of each wing and at the rear of the very long central block. Tillery, North Carolina
Tillery is an unincorporated community in Halifax County, North Carolina, that was a plantation and is now home to a museum. Tillery was incorporated as a town in 1889. Franklin Roosevelt's Resettlement Administration instituted a New Deal era resettlement program in the area. In 1936 it was renamed Roanoke Farms. The ZIP Code for Tillery is 27887. History W. H.
