The Heiress At Coffee Dan's
''The Heiress at Coffee Dan's'' is a 1916 American silent comedy-drama film produced by the Fine Arts Film Company and distributed by Triangle Film Corporation. It starred Bessie Love and was directed by Edward Dillon. The film is presumed lost. Plot Waffles (Love) is a Swedish immigrant who is working as a waitress in Coffee Dan's, a San Francisco diner. She is in love with poor composer Carl (Bennett). Thieves Clara Johnstone ( Younge) and Bert Gallagher (Paget) learn about a missing heiress in a newspaper, and convince Waffles that she is the heiress. Edward Dillon (actor)
Edward Dillon ( or 1879 – July 11, 1933) was an American actor, director and screenwriter of the silent era. He performed in more than 320 films between 1905 and 1932 and also directed 134 productions between 1913 and 1926. He was a native of New York City. Dillon's work on Broadway included acting in ''Prince Otto'' (1900), ''Francesca da Rimini'' (1901), ''The Taming of the Shrew'' (1905), and ''The Ranger'' (1907). He left the stage to begin acting in films in 1908, working under D. W. Griffith at Biograph. He was Mary Pickford's first leading man, and he was instrumental in Fay Tincher's developing into a star. Dillon died on July 11, 1933, at the age of 60 in Hollywood, California from a heart attack. His brother John T. Dillon was also an actor. Max Davidson (May 23, 1875 – September 4, 1950) was a German-American film actor known for his comedic Jewish persona during the silent film era. With a career spanning over thirty years, Davidson appeared in over 180 films. Career Born in Berlin to Jewish parents, Davidson emigrated to the United States in the 1890s where he began working in stock theater and vaudeville. He entered silent movies in 1912. He made a series of films featuring the character Izzy for Reliance Pictures Company in 1914. Carmel Myers
Carmel Myers (April 9, 1899 – November 9, 1980) was an American actress who achieved her greatest successes in silent film. Early life Myers was born in San Francisco, the daughter of Isidore Myers, a Russian-Jewish rabbi who was born in Russia but raised in Australia, and Anna Jacobson Myers, an Austrian-Jew. She had an older brother, Zion, and she was a cousin of director Mark Sandrich and photographer Ruth Harriet Louise. Carmel's father was active in campaigns for women's suffrage, abolition of capital punishment, and zionism. He also was a noted scholar. The family moved to Los Angeles in 1905. Myers attended Los Angeles High School but left after D. W. Griffith gave her bit part in the film '' Intolerance'' (1916), for which her father was an unpaid consultant. She continued her education at a school for young actors. Myers helped her brother become a writer and director in Hollywood.
