The Hard Case
''The Hard Case'' is a 1995 British short film directed and written by Guy Ritchie and featured Darren Spencer as The player and Benedick Bates as a player and Wale Ojo as the gambler. A twenty-minute film, it precedes Ritchie's better known ''Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels''. Trudie Styler saw ''The Hard Case'' and invested money into ''Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels'' (her husband Sting would play a role in this feature film). Guy Stuart Ritchie (born 10 September 1968) is an English film director, producer and screenwriter. His work includes British gangster films, and the ''Adaptations of Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock Holmes'' films starring Robert Downey Jr. Ritchie left school at age 15 and worked entry-level jobs in the film industry before going on to direct television commercials. Benedick Bates
Benedick Bates (born November 1970) is a British actor. He is the son of actor Alan Bates and actress Victoria Ward and trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He has performed numerous times with the Glasgow Citizens Company, at the Chichester Festival Theatre and Edinburgh Festival, and in London's West End, in stage productions which include ''Don Carlos'', '' Romeo and Juliet'', ''The Return of A. Wale Ojo is a British Nigerian actor. He started as a child actor in television. He subsequently continued acting roles in the UK and Nigeria. He came into prominence in 1995 for his role in '' The Hard Case''. A short film is any motion picture that is short enough in running time not to be considered a feature film.
