''The Guv'nor'' is a 1935 British comedy film directed by Milton Rosmer and starring George Arliss, Gene Gerrard and Viola Keats. Arliss in the title role is a tramp who rides a series of misunderstandings and becomes the president of a bank. It was a remake of the 1934 French film '' Rothchild''. The film was re-released in England in 1944 and 1949. It was released in the US as ''Mr. Hobo''. It was shot at the Lime Grove Studios in Shepherd's Bush. The film's sets were designed by the art director Alfred Junge. Plot Monsieur Barsac ( Frank Cellier) is in a great deal of trouble - the Paris bank of which he is president is bankrupt, though nobody else knows yet. He tells his secret to his crony Dubois (George Hayes), since he needs his help. Dubois is to purchase an iron mine that is supposedly played out. Diego Costa
Diego da Silva Costa (, ; born 7 October 1988), commonly known as Diego Costa, is a professional footballer who plays as a striker for Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers and the Spain national team. Costa began his football career in his native Brazil before joining Braga in Portugal in 2006, aged 17. He never played for the club but spent time on loan at Penafiel, and signed with Atlético Madrid the following year. Over the next two seasons he had loan periods with Braga, Celta Vigo and Albacete. His form earned him a move to fellow La Liga club Real Valladolid in 2009, where he spent one season, finishing as their top goalscorer, before returning to Atlético Madrid. Costa struggled to maintain a regular starting role with Atlético, and spent more time on loan, this time at Rayo Vallecano, where he finished as the club's highest scorer that season. Bobby Abel
Robert Abel (30 November 1857 – 10 December 1936), nicknamed "The Guv'nor", was a Surrey and England opening batsman who was one of the most prolific run-getters in the early years of the County Championship. He was the first England player to "carry his bat" – opening the batting and remaining not out at the end of an innings – through a Test innings, and the first player to score 2000 runs in consecutive seasons – which he did each season from 1895 to 1902. In 1899 for Surrey against Somerset at The Oval, Abel carried his bat through an innings of 811, the highest total for which this feat has been achieved. His 357* in that innings remains a Surrey record, and was the highest score made at The Oval until Len Hutton scored 364 in 1938. Paul Ince
Paul Emerson Carlyle Ince (; born 21 October 1967) is an English professional football manager and former player who is the current manager of EFL Championship side Reading. A former midfielder, Ince played professionally from 1982 to 2007, starting his career with West Ham United and later representing Manchester United, Liverpool, Middlesbrough, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Swindon Town and Macclesfield Town in England, as well as Inter Milan in Italy. Ince spent the majority of his playing career at the highest level; after breaking through with his then-Second Division boyhood club West Ham United, he joined Manchester United in 1989 where he would win the Premier League twice, the FA Cup twice and the Football League Cup once during his six year spell at Old Trafford. Ashley Hutchings
Ashley Stephen Hutchings, MBE, sometimes known in early years by his nickname, "Tyger" Hutchings (born 26 January 1945) is an English bassist, vocalist, songwriter, arranger, band leader, writer and record producer. He was a founding member of three noteworthy English folk-rock bands: Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span and The Albion Band. Hutchings has overseen numerous other projects, including records and live theatre, and has collaborated on film and television projects. History Early career Hutchings was born in Southgate, London, England, but moved to Muswell Hill while still a child. As a teenager he became involved in the skiffle and blues movements and formed several groups, including 'Dr K's Blues Band' in 1964. ''The Guv'nor vol 1'' is a compilation of recordings by English folk musician Ashley Hutchings. Production Recordings were compiled from studio demos, live performances, and some studio finished products. Almost all had never been released before and the quality is variable. The tracks date from 1966 to 1993. Release At the time, the tracks by Fairport Convention attracted the most attention. Since 1993, most of these rarities have become available as bonus tracks on Fairport albums, or in the boxed set called "The Boxful of Treasures". The two Steeleye Span rarities have not become available elsewhere, but these recordings are of such poor fidelity that they must have been made on domestic, not professional equipment. Tracks four, six, and 16 were written by Bob Dylan. The compilation was released on CD in 1993. ''The Guv'nor vol 3'' is a compilation of recordings by Ashley Hutchings. These recordings come from studio demos, live performances and some studio finished product. Almost all had never been released before and the quality is variable. They date from the period 1968 to 1994. Track 8, "By The Time It Gets Dark" is a Sandy Denny composition that she never herself recorded professionally. This version with Julie Covington on lead vocals, was one of the first Denny songs to be recorded after her death. The 1612 collection of tunes "Terpsichore" by Michael Praetorius is rarely given an outing in folk circles, but here we have 4 of the tunes. It is probably the only folk-rock treatment that they have been given. The raucous version of "Harvest Home/ The Gas almost Works" comes from the Battle of the Field sessions, and you have to wonder why this was not included on the original album. ''The Guv'nor vol 4'' is a compilation of recordings by Ashley Hutchings. These recordings come from studio demos, live performances and some studio finished product. Almost all had never been released before and the quality is variable. They date from the period 1967 to 1996. Most of the songs and tunes are traditional. The album has the distinction of having the earliest recorded version of Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now", though the version by Judy Collins was the first to become commercially available. At the time Joe Boyd was a producer who was friends with both Joni Mitchell and Fairport Convention, and he brought their attention to some early work by her. Sandy Denny is the author of "Fotheringay", and Billy Bragg wrote "Love Gets Dangerous". Track 10 is one of the last that Richard Thompson recorded before emigrating to the USA. Marshall is a British company that designs and manufactures music amplifiers, speaker cabinets, brands personal headphones and earphones, drums and bongos. The company also owns a record label called Marshall Records. It was founded in London by drum shop owner and drummer, Jim Marshall, and is now based in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, England. Marshall's guitar amplifiers are among the most recognised in the world. Their signature sound characterised by sizzling distortion and "crunch" was conceived after guitarists, such as Pete Townshend, visited Marshall's drum shop complaining that the guitar amplifiers then on the market did not have the right sound or enough volume. After gaining publicity, Marshall guitar amplifiers and loudspeaker cabinets were sought by guitarists for this new sound and increased volume. Guv'ner was an American alternative rock band from New York City, formed in 1993 following a relationship between members Charles Gansa and Pumpkin Wentzel. Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth discovered the band when he was handed a demo of theirs by Julia Cafritz of Pussy Galore, who had known Wentzel since school. Moore put out Guv'ner's debut album '' Hard for Measy for You'' on his label, Ecstatic Peace. Further albums – '' The Hunt'' and '' Spectral Worship'' – were released on Merge Records Merge Records is an independent record label based in Durham, North Carolina. It was founded in 1989 by Laura Ballance and Mac McCaughan. It began as an outlet for music from their band Superchunk and music created by friends, and has expande ... in 1996 and 1998 respectively.
