The Guest (album)
''The Guest'' (originally titled ''Phantom Planet Was Here'') is the second studio album by American rock band Phantom Planet, released on February 26, 2002 by Epic Records. It was reissued in November 2003 with four additional bonus tracks, music videos, photos, and lyrics scanned from the notebook in which the album was originally written. The album produced the band's breakthrough hit, "California", which became the theme song to the Fox TV series, ''The O.C.'', in August 2003. Its music video aired on MTV2 in mid-2002. The track "Lonely Day" is also featured on the '' Smallville'' and ''Laguna Beach'' soundtracks. Phantom Planet
Phantom Planet is an American rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 1994. The band consists of Alex Greenwald (vocals, rhythm guitar), Darren Robinson (lead guitar), Sam Farrar (bass guitar) and Jeff Conrad (drums). The band is best known for its track "California", which became the theme song for the TV series ''The O.C.''. The band featured actor Jason Schwartzman on drums until 2003. On November 25, 2008, the band announced in a blog entry on their website that they are going on "hiatus, and will not be playing any more live shows or making any new records, indefinitely." They played their last pre-hiatus show on December 12, 2008, in Los Angeles. The band reunited in 2019, announcing that their hiatus was over. Jacques Brautbar (born March 14, 1979) is an United States of America, American composer, photographer, producer, writer and guitarist, formerly of rock music, rock band Phantom Planet. He left the band in 2004, after their Phantom Planet (album), self-titled third album, to pursue a career in photography. Brautbar's photo credits include ''Rolling Stone'', ''Spin (magazine), Spin'', ''Nylon (magazine), Nylon'', ''Jane (magazine), Jane'' and ''High Times'' magazines. In the spring of 2006, Brautbar returned to music and began to play shows with Beck, OK Go, Uh Huh Her (band), UH HUH HER, Jack's Mannequin and the electronica band Something for Rockets. Sam Farrar
Sam John Farrar (born June 29, 1978) is an American musician. He is best known as a member of the pop rock band Maroon 5, in which he plays several instruments, most notably bass guitar. A frequent collaborator with the band since the 1990s, he joined as a touring member in 2012 and was promoted to an official member in 2016. He has also been the bassist for the rock band Phantom Planet since their formation in 1994. Adam Lyons Schlesinger (October 31, 1967 – April 1, 2020) was an American musician, songwriter, composer, and record producer. He was a founding member of the bands Fountains of Wayne, Ivy, and Tinted Windows, and was a key songwriting contributor and producer for Brooklyn-based synth-pop duo Fever High. Joseph Meyer (songwriter)
Joseph Meyer (March 12, 1894 – June 22, 1987) was an American songwriter, who wrote some of the most notable songs of the first half of the twentieth century. Many of his songs were originally written for Broadway musicals. Meyer collaborated with many famous songwriters of the day including Buddy DeSylva, Al Lewis and Al Sherman. Three of his most famous songs were the 1922 hit, "California, Here I Come", "My Honey's Lovin' Arms" (1922) and " If You Knew Susie" (1925), a song he co-wrote with Buddy DeSylva. Meyer songs have been featured in over 120 motion picture soundtracks. Alex Greenwald
Alexander Greenwald (born October 9, 1979) is an American musician, actor, and record producer. He is the lead vocalist of the California rock band Phantom Planet. Life and career Greenwald was born in Los Angeles, California, to a family of Jewish descent.
