The Grove (Saginaw, Michigan)
The Grove is residential and institutional historic district located along South Washington Street in Saginaw, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. History The area that is now the Grove saw its first development in the 1870s. During this time, a series of homes was built in the northern section of the district. A second round of development began in 1908, when dredging and other civic improvements made lots in the southern section of the district more desirable. The city waterworks was constructed in 1929 at one end of the district, and in 1936 the City Hall was added at the opposite end. Due to the location of the City, Hall, some of large residential properties were purchased by the city and converted into municipal offices, and others were converted to private business offices. The Grove is a retail and entertainment complex in Los Angeles, located on parts of the historic Farmers Market. History The complex fills space previously occupied by an orchard and nursery, which were the last remains of a dairy farm owned by A. F. Gilmore in the latter part of the 19th century. College Grove Shopping Center, also Marketplace at the Grove, at SR-94 at College Avenue in San Diego on the border of Lemon Grove, is an open-air shopping center, but was originally a regional shopping mall, only the second to be built in San Diego County, and the 37th in the country. It opened July 28, 1960 with an official grand opening ceremony on August 25, 1960. The site had of gross leasable space on its site. The $28-million center had 60 stores (of which 20 were open at launch) and parking for 6,000 cars on two levels. There was a three-story branch of Walker Scott, the San Diego-based department store.
