The Grey Hounded Hare
''The Grey Hounded Hare'' is a 1949 ''Looney Tunes'' short film made by Warner Bros. Pictures and starring the voice talent of Mel Blanc. The film stars Bugs Bunny. It was directed by Robert McKimson, and animated by John Carey, Phil DeLara, Manny Gould and Charles McKimson, with music scored by Carl Stalling. The title refers to the greyhounds of the plot as well as "hounded" meaning pestered or pursued relentlessly. Plot After a race at a greyhound track comes to a conclusion, Bugs Bunny pops out of a hole, wondering what all the 'racket' is. He quickly finds out where he is when the announcer says that the patrons have time to make their selections for the next dog race. Bugs, after picking up a programme, decides to check out the competing dogs in the kennels, commenting positively on dog #7, a large grey greyhound named Gnawbone, whom Bugs inadvertently angers. Robert McKimson
Robert Porter McKimson Sr. (October 13, 1910 – September 29, 1977) was an American animator and illustrator, best known for his work on the ''Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies'' series of cartoons from Warner Bros. Cartoons and later DePatie–Freleng Enterprises. He wrote and directed many animated cartoon shorts starring Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Foghorn Leghorn, Hippety Hopper, and The Tasmanian Devil, among other characters. He was also well known for defining Bugs Bunny's look in the 1943 short ''Tortoise Wins by a Hare''. Career Born in Denver, Colorado, McKimson spent ten years gaining an art education at the Lukits School of Art. William Tell Overture (Spike Jones Song)
Spike Jones and his City Slickers recorded a musical parody that uses themes from Gioachino Rossini's ''William Tell Overture'' along with sound effects and humorous horse race calls performed by Doodles Weaver in the style of the famous announcer Clem McCarthy. Jones released his version as a single in 1948 and it peaked at #6 on the charts. The song was included on the album ''Spike Jones Is Murdering the Classics'' in 1971 and has frequently been included in various "greatest hits" compilations. The recording begins with the "Storm" portion of the overture, played frenetically, with the band accompanied by barking dogs and clanging objects of various kinds. The progression is brought to a sudden end with the "Bang!" of one of the famous guns in Jones's unique percussion section. ''The Windblown Hare'' is a Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' animated short directed by Robert McKimson. The short was released on August 27, 1949, and stars Bugs Bunny. The title, another pun on "hair", refers to Bugs being subjected to the Wolf's "blowing the houses down". Plot The Three Little Pigs, reading their own story in a book of fairy tales, decide to circumvent the plot by selling both the straw house and the wooden house before the Wolf can blow them down. Bugs is easily conned into buying the straw house for ten dollars (a sawbuck). Along comes the Wolf, also reading the book. As per the plot, he blows down the straw house just as homeowner Bugs starts to greet him. Bugs then buys the wooden house from the second pig, and the three then hole up in the brick house – knowing from the book that the Wolf cannot blow it down.
