Green Room
In show business, the green room is the space in a theatre or similar venue that functions as a waiting room and lounge for performers before, during, and after a performance or show when they are not engaged on stage. Green rooms typically have seating for the performers, such as upholstered chairs and sofas. The origin of the term is often ascribed to such rooms historically being painted green. Modern green rooms need not necessarily adhere to a specifically green color scheme, though the theatrical tradition of the name remains. The Green Room is one of three state parlors on the first floor of the White House, the home of the president of the United States. It is used for small receptions and teas. During a state dinner, guests are served cocktails in the three state parlors before the president, first lady, and a visiting head of state descend the Grand Staircase for dinner. The room is traditionally decorated in shades of green. The room is approximately . It has six doors, which open into the Cross Hall, East Room, South Portico, and Blue Room. Green Room Club
The Green Room Club was a London-based club, primarily for actors, but also for lovers of theatre, arts and music. It was established in in a restaurant in Piccadilly Circus, and moved to premises on Adam Street in 1955, where it remained until its closure in . The club's name was not trademarked, and there have been at least two attempts to "re-found" a version of the club in new premises. History The club was set up by the Victorian actor-manager Sir Henry Irving, and Henry Somerset, 8th Duke of Beaufort, with the latter agreeing to be its first president. ''The Green Room'' (french: La Chambre verte) is a 1978 French historical drama film directed by François Truffaut, based on the 1895 short story " The Altar of the Dead" by Henry James, in which a man becomes obsessed with the dead people in his life and builds a memorial to them. It is also based on two other works by James: the 1903 novella '' The Beast in the Jungle'' and the 1896 short story " The Way It Came". It was Truffaut's seventeenth feature film as a director and the third and last of his own films in which he acted in a leading role. It stars Truffaut, Nathalie Baye, Jean Dasté and Patrick Maléon. Truffaut spent several years working on the film's script and felt a special connection to the theme of honouring and remembering the dead. The Green Room Awards are peer awards which recognise excellence in cabaret, dance, drama, fringe theatre, musical theatre and opera in Melbourne. The awards were started in 1982 when Blair Edgar and Steven Tandy formed the Green Room Awards Association. The inaugural awards ceremony was held in 1984 at the Melbourne Concert Hall. The association today is composed of members of Melbourne's performing arts community, including journalists, performers, writers, directors, choreographers, academics, theatre technicians and administrators. The current patrons of the association are Rachel Griffiths and David Atkins. ''The Green Room with Paul Provenza'' is a talk show on Showtime, hosted by Paul Provenza. Each episode featured a panel of guests discussing comedy. Synopsis At the start of each episode, the camera would approach a stage door in an alley, where one of that series' guests appeared, only to warn the viewer off, saying that the event is for "comics only." In another nearby doorway, Provenza then motioned the viewer in, with the advice to "be cool," warning, "if you've ever been offended by anything, don't come in." The camera then followed Provenza into the building, via hallways and stairs to a final door, which would open onto the soundstage, where the evening's guests were already in conversation. Daniel Richard Green Jr. (born June 22, 1987) is an American professional basketball player for the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the University of North Carolina (UNC), where he played in more games (145) and had more wins (123) than any Tar Heel before him. The Green Room (a.k.a. The Fabulous Green Room) was a popular recording studio located in Huntington Beach, California. The Green Room was owned and operated by musician Gene Eugene and Anna Cardenas and was active from the 1980s until Cardenas was forced to sell the studio in 2002, after Eugene died in 2000.
