''The Great Train Robbery'' is a 1941 American low-budget B-western film. It was directed by Joseph Kane and starred Bob Steele and Claire Carleton. It was remade in 1949 as ''The Last Bandit'' and again in 1952 as ''South Pacific Trail''. Plot Railroad sleuth Tom Logan ( Bob Steele) is on a mission to stop the unlawfulness of his criminal brother, Duke Logan (Milburn Stone). Duke's gang have stolen a train filled with gold and have taken the passengers hostage as well. The Great Train Robbery (1903 Film)
''The Great Train Robbery'' is a 1903 American silent film made by Edwin S. Porter for the Edison Manufacturing Company. It follows a gang of outlaws who hold up and rob a steam locomotive at a station in the American West, flee across mountainous terrain, and are finally defeated by a posse of locals. The short film draws on many sources, including a robust existing tradition of Western films, recent European innovations in film technique, the play of the same name by Scott Marble, the popularity of train-themed films, and possibly real-life incidents involving outlaws such as Butch Cassidy. Porter supervised and photographed the film in New York and New Jersey in November 1903; the Edison studio began selling it to vaudeville houses and other venues in the following month. Si Jenks (born Howard Hansell Jenkins; September 23, 1876 – January 6, 1970) was an American actor. He was involved in 224 films in a career spanning nearly two decades in vaudeville and films. Enos Edward "Yakima" Canutt (November 29, 1895 – May 24, 1986) was an American champion rodeo rider, actor, stuntman, and action director. He developed many stunts for films and the techniques and technology to protect stuntmen in performing them. Richard Michael Wessel (April 20, 1913 – April 20, 1965) was an American film actor who appeared in more than 270 films between 1935 and 1966. He is best remembered for his only leading role, a chilling portrayal of strangler Harry "Cueball" Lake in ''Dick Tracy vs. Cueball'' (1946), and for his appearances as comic villains opposite The Three Stooges. Biography Wessel was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His burly frame established him as a character player in feature films of the 1930s and '40s. At first he was a bit player; in Laurel and Hardy's ''Bonnie Scotland'' (1935), he was a blacksmith's assistant (with no dialogue).
