The Great Grape Ape
''The Great Grape Ape Show'' is an American animated television series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and broadcast on ABC from September 6 to December 13, 1975. ABC continued to air it in reruns until 1978. Premise The title character is The Great Grape Ape (voiced by Bob Holt), who is a 40-foot purple gorilla with the mind of a child. His catch phrase is saying his name twice ("Grape Ape, Grape Ape") after anything anyone says, usually as a form of agreement or acknowledgement of what was said. He travels the countryside with his canine pal Beegle Beagle (voiced by Marty Ingels), whom he calls "Beegly Beagly". Grape Ape's immense size tends to initially shock and frighten those unfamiliar with him, and his presence alone has often terrified people and animals, causing them to run off screaming invariably: "YEOW! Janet Waldo (born Jeanette Marie Waldo; February 4, 1919 – June 12, 2016) was an American radio and voice actress. In animation, she voiced Judy Jetson in various Hanna-Barbera media, Nancy in ''Shazzan'', Penelope Pitstop, Princess from ''Battle of the Planets'', and Josie in ''Josie and the Pussycats''. The Mumbly Cartoon Show
''The Mumbly Cartoon Show'' is a Saturday morning animated series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and featuring the titular Mumbly, a cartoon dog detective. It was broadcast on ABC from September 11, 1976 to September 3, 1977 as part of '' The Tom and Jerry/Grape Ape/Mumbly Show''. This compilation packaged reruns of the 1975 '' The Tom and Jerry/Grape Ape Show'' with Mumbly as a new component. Mumbly is a private eye dog in a trenchcoat, who works with a human detective, Chief Schnooker, to catch criminals who often sport alliterative names. 16 episodes were produced. Mumbly was voiced by Don Messick, and Schnooker by John Stephenson. The show was not a ratings success, and only lasted one season. John Stephenson (actor)
John Winfield Stephenson (August 9, 1923 – May 15, 2015) was an American actor, most active in voice-over roles. He has also been credited as John Stevenson. Stephenson never gave any interviews and was rarely seen in public, although he did make an appearance at BotCon 2001. Early life Stephenson was from Kenosha, Wisconsin, the oldest son of Ray and Martha Stephenson. He went to Ripon College and was active in campus drama. Stephenson wanted to be a lawyer and studied at the University of Wisconsin Law School. After serving in the United States Army Air Forces, as a gunner and radio operator, during World War II, John Stephenson graduated from Northwestern University with a master's degree in Speech and Drama in 1948.
