The Great Blue Heron Music Festival
The Great Blue Heron Music Festival is an annual music festival held the first or second weekend of July in Sherman, New York, a small town in the Amish country side of Western New York, United States. The Great Blue Heron Music Festival, or simply Blue Heron, as it is known, draws several thousand visitors throughout the course of three days. The Blue Heron presents over 30 musicians and bands between the three stages at the venue. Genres traditionally represented include bluegrass, Cajun, zydeco, African, reggae, Americana, old-time music, Irish music, and jam band. However, in recent years, the festival has featured many contemporary, national acts such as Rusted Root and The Avett Brothers. Sherman (town), New York
Sherman is a town in Chautauqua County, New York, United States. It is an interior town in the county, west of Chautauqua Lake. As of the 2020 census, the town population was 1,618. The town contains the village of Sherman. History The area was first settled around 1823. The town of Sherman was formed in 1824 from the town of Mina. The source of the town's name is Roger Sherman, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. The Avett Brothers are an American folk rock band from Concord, North Carolina. Los Straitjackets
Los Straitjackets is an American instrumental rock band that formed in Nashville, Tennessee, United States, in 1988. Originally comprising guitarists Danny Amis (formerly of the Raybeats), Eddie Angel and drummer L. J. "Jimmy" Lester under the name The Straitjackets, the band split up soon after forming, but reunited as Los Straitjackets in 1994 with the addition of bassist E. Scott Esbeck. Lightnin' Wells is an American Piedmont blues multi-instrumentalist and singer. He is a proficient musician and regularly plays various instruments in concert including the guitar, mandolin, harmonica, ukulele and banjo. At times he has performed as a one-man band. His style encompasses elements of the blues, country, gospel, old-time, bluegrass and folk. Kate Jacobs (born January 11, 1959, in Alexandria, Virginia, United States) is an American singer-songwriter. Biography Jacobs wanted to become a ballet dancer. Her father was in the United States Foreign Service, and she moved to Austria when she was eleven. Her family was a singing one, if not formally musical. Her father sang old Tin Pan Alley songs at home, and her mother sang Russian ballads and American standards. At church, she sang songs of the civil rights era and the folk revival, and some songs such as " Up, Up and Away". John & Mary is a United States-based folk rock duo featuring John Lombardo and Mary Ramsey both members of alternative rock band 10,000 Maniacs. Jim Donovan (born March 10, 1968) is a professional drummer and percussionist, a recording artist, writer, teacher and lecturer. He is best known as the former drummer and one of the founding members of the band Rusted Root. Hypnotic Clambake is a musical group from Rochester, New York known for exploring a wide variety of musical genres. Founded by frontman and accordionist Maury Rosenberg in 1989, in Boston, Massachusetts, the group began as a studio recording project and later evolved into a touring band. Donna the Buffalo is a band from Trumansburg, New York, Trumansburg, New York (state), New York. It plays both original songs and cover versions. Bombadil is a four-piece Americana, folk-pop band from Durham, North Carolina with guitar, bass, piano, and drums as their primary instruments. The band is known for their creative and heartfelt lyrics, lush vocal harmonies, thoughtful arrangements, and engaging live show. Baby Gramps is a guitar performer, who, though born in Miami, Florida, has been based in the Northwest U.S. for at least the last 40 years. He is famous for his palindromes. Baby Gramps started performing in 1964 and is still playing professionally as of 2018. Style Baby Gramps plays a mixture of styles and eras including traditional blues, children's and labor songs, and his own compositions.
