The Gorilla Man
''The Gorilla Man'' is a 1943 American drama film directed by D. Ross Lederman. Despite the title and marketing, it is not a horror film, but a World War II espionage thriller. Plot Military officer Captain Craig Killian is wounded in the line of duty and taken to a private hospital in England. Killian soon learns the hospital is a front of Nazi operations that wish to damage English home defense efforts. Anthony Coldeway
Anthony W. Coldeway (August 1, 1887 – January 29, 1963) was an American screenwriter who had an extensive career from 1910 through 1954. Although most of his work was on films, he did some writing for television and also was the director of a silent film, entitled ''Her Great Dilemma'', in 1917. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky. In 1928, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 1st Academy Awards for his film '' Glorious Betsy''. Joan Winfield
Joan Winfield (born Joan Marie Therese MacGillicuddy; 24 September 1918 – 16 June 1978) was an Australian-born actress and talented violinist, who appeared in Hollywood films in the 1940s, mostly in uncredited roles. She married director and writer John Meredyth Lucas in 1951. Childhood in Australia She was born Joan Marie Therese MacGillicuddy and grew up in East Melbourne, the second daughter of Dr. Maurice MacGillicuddy and his wife Nell. Joan and older sister Mauricette attended Catholic Ladies College in nearby Grey St, East Melbourne. Frank Lorimer Mayo (June 28, 1889 – July 9, 1963) was an American actor. He appeared in 310 films between 1911 and 1949. Biography He was born in New York City, the son of actor Frank M. Mayo, and he died in Laguna Beach, California, from a heart attack. He was married to actress Dagmar Godowsky from 1921 to 1926. The marriage was annulled in August 1926 on the ground that Mayo had another wife. Mayo was buried at the Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills Cemetery in Los Angeles. Creighton Hale (born Patrick Fitzgerald; May 24, 1882 – August 9, 1965) was an Irish-American theatre, film, and television actor whose career extended more than a half-century, from the early 1900s to the end of the 1950s. Career Born in County Cork, Ireland, Hale was educated in Dublin and London, and later attended Ardingly College in Sussex. He emigrated to America in 1910, with a company headed by Gertrude Elliott. He was initially billed as Pat Creighton Hale in the United States. Remaining in the country, he acted in stock theater in Hartford, Indianapolis, and other cities. While starring in Charles Frohman's Broadway production of ''Indian Summer'', Hale was spotted by a representative of the Pathe Film Company.
