The Godfathers (TV Series)
''The Godfathers'' is an Australian comedy drama television series which aired on the Nine Network from 1971 to 1972. This family series was created by Robert Bruning and Michael Laurence, who also had starring roles. Plot summary ''The Godfathers'' follows the story of widow Maria Varga, who decides to take in boarders into her house to help make ends meet. Her young son Mike is initially opposed to the idea and resents the new boarders until they throw him a surprise birthday party. He adopts the three boarders as his 'godfathers'. Nine Network
The Nine Network (stylised 9Network, commonly known as Channel Nine or simply Nine) is an Australian commercial free-to-air television network. Anna Volska
Anna Volska (born 1 December 1944 in Milanówek, Poland) is an Australian stage and television actress. She arrived in Australia when she was young and has acted from a young age. Television work Volska has appeared in many Australian television drama series, mostly in a guest role. Her first role was in 1965, where she had a small role in ''The Recruiting Officer''. Robert Bruning
Robert Bruning (27 May 1928 – 4 March 2008) was an Australian actor and film producer, who was the founder of film production firm Gemini Productions Biography Bruning was born as Robert Bell in Dongara, Western Australia in 1928. He worked as an amateur actor at the New Theatre in the Sydney suburb of Newtown in the 1940s and 1950s. Bruning also was a regular guest performer in ''Homicide'', ''Division 4'', ''The Sullivans'' and ''A Country Practice''. He also had substantial roles on Australian films such as 1970's ''Ned Kelly'' and his production credits, on sitcoms, variety, and drama add up to more than 200 hours of television. Michael Laurence (24 November 1935 – 23 March 2015) was an Australian actor, producer, director and screenwriter best known for creating TV serial ''Return to Eden''. Biography He began his career as a child actor on Sydney radio, before winning a scholarship at 18 to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, before appearing in theatre productions, including everything from Shakespearean roles to musicals. Harold Hopkins (actor)
Harold Douglas Hopkins (6 March 194411 December 2011) was an Australian film and television actor. Early life Hopkins was born in 1944 in Toowoomba, Queensland. He attended Toowoomba Grammar School as a day boy in 1958 and 1959. During the 1960s, he worked as an apprentice carpenter, and was exposed to asbestos fibres without protective masks or clothing. He and his twin brother John enrolled at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney, with Harold graduating in 1967. Harold Hopkins married twice. ''The People Next Door'' is an Australian comedy-drama television series which aired on the Nine Network in 1973. This family series is a spin-off of ''The Godfathers'' which ran for 72 episodes in 1971 and 1972 and was also created by Robert Bruning and Michael Laurence. It featured two characters from ''The Godfathers'', Elizabeth Dent and David Milson.
