The Godfathers
The Godfathers are an English rock band from London, England, with strong influences from R&B and punk. Career The Godfathers were formed by Peter and Chris Coyne (vocals and bass, respectively) after the demise of The Sid Presley Experience in 1985, joined by Mike Gibson (guitar), Kris Dollimore (guitar) and George Mazur (drums). Peter Coyne had briefly worked as a music journalist from 1980–82 for ''ZigZag'' and ''Record Mirror''. Fellow TSPE member, and later Godfather, Del Bartle, went on to form The Unholy Trinity with drummer Kevin Murphy. After independent single releases produced by Vic Maile, and collected on their debut album, '' Hit by Hit'', they signed to Epic Records in 1987. Extensive tours of the UK, Europe and the United States followed. A concert tour (or simply tour) is a series of concerts by an artist or group of artists in different cities, countries or locations. Often concert tours are named to differentiate different tours by the same artist and to associate a specific tour with a particular album or product. 100 Club
The 100 Club is a music venue located at 100 Oxford Street, London, England, where it has been hosting live music since 24 October 1942. It was originally called the Feldman Swing Club, but changed its name when the father of the current owner took over in 1964. Feldman Swing Club In 1942, the venue was a restaurant called Macks, which was hired out beginning 24 October every Sunday evening by Robert Feldman at £4 per night to host a jazz club featuring swing music. The Stranglers
The Stranglers are an English rock band who emerged via the punk rock scene. Scoring 23 UK top 40 singles and 19 UK top 40 albums to date in a career spanning five decades, the Stranglers are one of the longest-surviving bands to have originated in the UK punk scene. Formed as the Guildford Stranglers in Guildford, Surrey, in early 1974, they originally built a following within the mid-1970s pub rock scene. While their aggressive, no-compromise attitude had them identified by the media with the emerging UK punk rock scene that followed, their idiosyncratic approach rarely followed any single musical genre, and the group went on to explore a variety of musical styles, from new wave, art rock and gothic rock through the sophisti-pop of some of their 1980s output. ''Jukebox Fury'' is the seventh studio album by English rock band the Godfathers, released through their own Godfathers Recordings label on 4 March 2013. It is the band's first studio album since they reunited in 2008 and comes eighteen years after their previous studio album, 1995's ''Afterlife''. It is also the first and only Godfathers studio album to feature guitarist Del Bartle. The Damned (band)
The Damned are an English punk rock band formed in London in 1976 by lead vocalist Dave Vanian, guitarist Brian James, bassist (and later guitarist) Captain Sensible, and drummer Rat Scabies. They were the first punk band from the United Kingdom to release a single, "New Rose" (1976), release a studio album, ''Damned Damned Damned'' (1977), and tour the United States. They have nine singles that charted on the UK Singles Chart Top 40. The band briefly broke up after '' Music for Pleasure'' (1977), the follow-up to their debut studio album, was critically dismissed. They quickly reformed without Brian James, and released ''Machine Gun Etiquette'' (1979). Rat Scabies
Christopher John Millar (born 30 July 1955), known by his stage name Rat Scabies, is a musician best known as the drummer for English punk rock band the Damned. Career Millar was born in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey. He played drums with Tor and London SS before founding the Damned with Brian James, Dave Vanian and Captain Sensible in 1976. He continued to play with the band with some interruptions and alongside various personnel changes until a dispute over the release of the album '' Not of This Earth'' led to his departure in 1995. His solo work outside the Damned includes a cover version of Bob Dylan's "This Wheel's on Fire", credited to "Rat & The Whale". In 2003 Millar formed a short-lived outfit called the Germans with Peter Coyne and Kris Dollimore, originally from the Godfathers. Unreal World (album)
''Unreal World'' is the fourth studio album by alternative rock band the Godfathers, released by Epic Records in March 1991. It was produced by Steve Brown (Wham!, the Cult, Manic Street Preachers), who had worked as a mixing engineer on the Godfathers' second album ''Birth, School, Work, Death''. ''Unreal World'' marked the first Godfathers album to feature guitarist Chris Burrows, who replaced original member Kris Dollimore, and the last studio album with original members Michael Gibson (guitar) and George Mazur (drums). The album includes a cover of the Creation's 1968 single "How Does It Feel to Feel". Vic Maile, who produced the Godfathers' first three studio albums, had worked as an engineer on the original version by the Creation. ''More Songs About Love and Hate'' is the third studio album by alternative rock band the Godfathers, released in May 1989 by Epic Records. It reached number 49 on the UK Albums Chart. The UK album cover shows Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. It was the last Godfathers album to feature guitarist Kris Dollimore, who was replaced by Chris Burrows for 1991's ''Unreal World''. Critical reception In a contemporary review in ''The Washington Post'', Mark Jenkins argued that the album lacks great songs, calling it "11 songs in search of a hit." He, however, felt that it is more consistent than its predecessor '' Birth, School, Work, Death'', writing, "None of the material soars, but only "Another You" sounds disposable." Jenkins highlighted "Walking Talking Johnny Cash Blues," a "change-of-pace" track with a "country flavor," as one of the album's best tracks.
