''The Gift'' is a 30-minute made-for-television movie directed by Laura Dern and starring Jason Adelman, Bonnie Bedelia, Peter Horton, Diane Ladd, Isabella Rossellini and Mary Steenburgen. Samuel Fuller
Samuel Michael Fuller (August 12, 1912 – October 30, 1997) was an American film director, screenwriter, novelist, journalist, and World War II veteran known for directing low-budget B movie, genre movies with controversial themes, often made outside the conventional studio system. Fuller wrote his first screenplay for ''Hats Off (1936 film), Hats Off'' in 1936, and made his directorial debut with the Western ''I Shot Jesse James'' (1949). He would continue to direct several other Westerns and war thrillers throughout the 1950s. Fuller shifted from Westerns and war movies in the 1960s with his low-budget thriller ''Shock Corridor'' in 1963, followed by the neo-noir ''The Naked Kiss'' (1964). Mary Steenburgen
Mary Nell Steenburgen (; born February 8, 1953) is an American actress, comedian, singer, and songwriter. After studying at New York's Neighborhood Playhouse in the 1970s, she made her professional acting debut in 1978 Western comedy film ''Goin' South''. Steenburgen went on to earn critical acclaim for her role in Jonathan Demme's 1980 comedy-drama film ''Melvin and Howard'', for which she received the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
