Lew Landers (born Louis Friedlander, January 2, 1901 – December 16, 1962) was an American independent film and television director. Biography Born as Louis Friedlander in New York City, Lew Landers began his movie career as an actor. In 1914, he appeared in two features: D.W. Griffith's drama ''The Escape (1914 film), The Escape'' and the comedy short ''Admission – Two Pins'', under his birth name. He became an assistant director at Universal Pictures in 1922. He began making films in the 1930s, one of his early ones being the Boris Karloff / Bela Lugosi thriller ''The Raven (1935 film), The Raven'' (1935). After directing a few more features, he changed his name to Lew Landers and directed more than 100 films in a variety of genres, including Westerns, comedies, and horror movies. He was best known as Doc Weaver, the veterinarian, in thirty-nine episodes of the CBS television series ''Lassie''. Early years Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Space first delved into acting at Douglass College. Career Space began his career in summer stock theater and eventually began appearing on Broadway. Frank Sully
Francis Thomas Sullivan (June 17, 1908 December 17, 1975), known professionally as Frank Sully, was an American film actor. He appeared in over 240 films between 1934 and 1968. Today's audiences know him best as the dumb detective in the ''Boston Blackie'' features, and as the foil in many Three Stooges comedies. Career After working on the vaudeville stage, Sully entered the film industry in 1934. He played small parts and bits for several years at various studios, usually as tough guys. Gradually he was cast in higher-budgeted features, including ''Another Thin Man'' (1939) where Sully plays one of Nick Charles's streetwise pals, and John Ford's ''The Grapes of Wrath'' (1940) with Sully cast as Noah Joad, whose family treks across America for a new life.
