''Tha G-Code'' is the fourth studio album by American rapper Juvenile. The album was released December 14, 1999, on Cash Money Records. It features the hit singles " U Understand" and " I Got That Fire". The album was not as successful as Juvenile's previous album, ''400 Degreez'', but it did reach number 10 on the US ''Billboard'' 200 with first week sales of over 290,000 copies and also topped the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart during the first week of 2000. The album was certified Platinum by the RIAA on January 24, 2000, for sales of one million copies. Terius Gray (born March 26, 1975), better known by his stage name Juvenile, is an American rapper best known for his work with Birdman's Cash Money Records in the late 1990s and early 2000s, both solo and as a member of the label's then-flagship group, Hot Boys. Juvenile's career began in the early 1990s as a teenager with bounce music recordings that made him a local star. He released his debut album ''Being Myself'' in 1995. After signing to Cash Money, Juvenile released ''Solja Rags'' in 1997, which included the major local hit "Solja Rag". Robert Thomas Christgau ( ; born April 18, 1942) is an American music journalist and essayist. Among the most well-known and influential music critics, he began his career in the late 1960s as one of the earliest professional rock critics and later became an early proponent of musical movements such as hip hop, riot grrrl, and the import of African popular music in the West. Tab Virgil Jr. (born February 8, 1981) better known by his stage name Turk (sometimes "Young Turk" or "Hot Boy Turk"), is an American rapper from New Orleans, Louisiana. He is best known for his late 1990s run at Birdman's Cash Money Records with the group the Hot Boys. The Hot Boys (often styled as Hot Boy$) are an American hip hop group formed in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1997. The group is made up of B.G. (rapper), B.G., Lil Wayne, Juvenile (rapper), Juvenile and Turk (rapper), Turk. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is a trade organization that represents the music recording industry in the United States. Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is a music chart published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine that ranks R&B and hip hop albums based on sales in the United States and is compiled by Nielsen SoundScan. The chart debuted as Hot R&B LPs in the issue dated January 30, 1965 in an effort by the magazine to further expand into the field of rhythm and blues music. It then went through several name changes, being known as Soul LPs in the 1970s and Top Black Albums in the 1980s, before returning to the R&B identification in 1990 and affixing a hip hop designation in 1999 to reflect the latter's growing sales and relationship to R&B during the decade.
