The Furies (band)
The Furies are an American indie rock band from Rhode Island. History The Furies are a five-piece indie band from Providence, Rhode Island, that formed in 2010. Singer and guitarist Lee Moretti started the Furies after finishing touring with the rock band, Third Eye Blind, as a multi-instrumentalist and backing vocalist. Moretti released her first song "Keep Away" in 2011, which features Brad Hargreaves on drums, Abe Millet on bass and Stephan Jenkins on tambourine. Jenkins also recorded and produced the song. All the members are female, and graduates of Berklee College of Music, and the Frost School of Music. Their music is described as having "tight harmonies, layered instrumentation, and an immensely positive energy." The band describes themselves as "fever-fem," and mention the Dead Weather, Led Zeppelin, Regina Spektor, and Jeff Buckley as musical influences. Providence, Rhode Island
Providence is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Rhode Island. MiNT is Now TOS (MiNT) is a free software alternative operating system kernel for the Atari ST system and its successors. It is a multi-tasking alternative to TOS and MagiC. Together with the free system components fVDI device drivers, XaAES graphical user interface widgets, and TeraDesk file manager, MiNT provides a free TOS compatible replacement OS that can multitask. WBRU is an internet radio station based in Providence, Rhode Island. The station is owned and operated by Brown Broadcasting Service, an independent non-profit organization, and is primarily staffed by students from Brown University. Brooklyn Bowl is a music venue, bowling alley and restaurant in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. Founded in 2009, it is located in the former Hecla Iron Works Building at 61 Wythe Avenue. It is known for its high-tech green construction and variety of musical acts. Arlene's Grocery is a bar and music venue located in the Lower East Side district of Manhattan. It is located at 95 Stanton Street between Orchard St and Ludlow St. The venue was opened by Shane Doyle and two partners in 1995. Shane Doyle was also owner and founder of Sin-é. While Shane was bought out early on, the two remaining partners run the club. History The former Puerto Rican convenience store, bodega/grocery store (the facade of which remains) and neighboring butcher shop were turned into a bar in 1995. The New England Music Awards are an annual award show. Bands and artists from the New England region of the United States are eligible for receipt of the awards. Nomination process Recipients are selected through their recordings, appearances and reputation. The awards were created by music promoter Joe Graham and Sugarpop Records label executive Dennis Hennessey in 2011, and the first ceremony occurred in 2012.
