The Fratellis
The Fratellis are a Scottish rock band from Glasgow, formed in 2005. The band consists of three unrelated members, who perform under pseudonyms: lead vocalist and guitarist Jon Fratelli, bassist Barry Fratelli, and drummer Mince Fratelli. Their singles " Chelsea Dagger" and "Whistle for the Choir" were both top ten hits in the UK charts. History 2005–2006: ''The Fratellis EP'' and ''Costello Music'' The band's name came from the criminal family in ''The Goonies'' and received their first radio playing in 2005, on central Scotland's Beat 106 (later XFM Scotland, now Capital Scotland) Beatscene show hosted by Jim Gellatly. Costello Music
''Costello Music'' is the debut album by Scottish indie rock band the Fratellis. It was released on 11 September 2006 on Fallout Records and Drop the Gun Recordings and on 13 March 2007 on Cherrytree Records in the US and was a success, peaking at number 2 on the UK Albums Chart and spent 83 weeks in the Top 100. It debuted behind ''FutureSex/LoveSounds'' by Justin Timberlake and stayed in the No. 2 position for two more weeks, this time behind ''Ta-Dah'' by Scissor Sisters. The album had five single releases, as well as the download-only EP '' Flathead''. "Chelsea Dagger" was the most successful single, peaking at No. 5 in the UK and No. 4 in the Netherlands, but the other singles failed to chart in most countries. The band toured the record internationally, playing shows in Europe, the United States and Japan, and won the 2007 BRIT Award for Best British Breakthrough Act. Baby Fratelli
"Baby Fratelli" is a song by Scottish rock band the Fratellis, release as the fifth single from their debut album, ''Costello Music'' (2006). It was released on 12 March 2007, in CD, 7-inch vinyl, and DVD single formats. A limited edition USB stick was later released, containing a weblink to an exclusive documentary as well as a competition to see the Fratellis in New York City on 23 March 2007. 7,000 copies of the USB stick format were sold, although this format isn't chart-eligible. The song was written by the band's lead singer, John Lawler. ''Time'' magazine named "Baby Fratelli" one of "The 10 Best Songs of 2007", ranking it at number 10. Writer Josh Tyrangiel, while criticizing the band's lack of originality, and the derivativeness of the song, praised the "unapologetically glammed up, eight ball of a rock song", which he called "a high-energy ode to the thrill of stupidity, thus its prominent place on the ''Hot Fuzz'' soundtrack." ''The Fratellis EP'' is the debut EP by Scottish band The Fratellis, released on 3 April 2006. There are a limited number of physical copies of this available in the UK. "Creepin' Up the Backstairs" was ineligible for the UK charts because the EP was limited in numbers and contained stickies. ''Hot Fuzz'' is a 2007 action comedy film directed by Edgar Wright and written by Wright and Simon Pegg. "Solid Gold Easy Action" is a song by T. Rex, written by Marc Bolan. It was released as a single on 1 December 1972 and reached No. 2 in the UK Singles Chart. "All Along the Watchtower" is a song by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan from his eighth studio album, '' John Wesley Harding'' (1967). The song was written by Dylan and produced by Bob Johnston. The Reunion Tour was a 2007–2008 worldwide concert tour by The Police, marking the 30th anniversary of their beginnings. Kasabian
Kasabian ( ) are an English rock band formed in Leicester in 1997 by lead vocalist Tom Meighan, guitarist and occasional vocalist Sergio Pizzorno, guitarist Chris Karloff, and bassist Chris Edwards. Drummer Ian Matthews joined in 2004. Karloff left the band in 2006 and founded a new band called Black Onassis. Jay Mehler joined as touring lead guitarist in 2006, leaving for Liam Gallagher's Beady Eye in 2013, to be replaced by Tim Carter, who later became a full-time band member in 2021. Meighan left the band in July 2020, with Pizzorno stepping up as full-time lead vocalist. In 2010 and 2014, Kasabian won the Q Awards for "Best Act in the World Today", while they were also named "Best Live Act" at the 2014 Q Awards and the 2007 and 2018 NME Awards.
