Ricardo Emmanuel Brown (born November 23, 1972), better known by his stage name Kurupt, is an American rapper and record producer who aided gangsta rap's rise via 1990s verses helping set lasting trends. He is one half of the rap duo Tha Dogg Pound, along with Daz Dillinger. His first solo album arrived in 1998. After feuding, the duo reunited in 2005. Personal life Ricardo Emmanuel Brown was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He moved to Los Angeles, California at age 16, first to Hawthorne, then to South Los Angeles, Crenshaw District at age 18. David Brown (born 1983), better known by his stage name Roscoe, is an American rapper. He released his debut album, ''Young Roscoe Philaphornia'', in 2003, with the album debuting at #148 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Career Roscoe was initially introduced to hip hop by his older brother Kurupt, who, at that time, was signed to Death Row Records and working on his debut album with Tha Dogg Pound, Dogg Food. Kurupt flew Roscoe out to California and brought him to Death Row's studios to see him rap. Kurupt was impressed with what he saw and began meeting with his brother in the studio regularly, and eventually began writing his songs. Hardcore hip hop (also hardcore rap) is a genre of hip hop music that developed through the East Coast hip hop scene in the 1980s. Okayplayer is an online hip-hop and alternative music website and community, described by ''Rolling Stone'' as a "tastemaker" and "an antidote to dull promotional Web sites used by most artists". The community was founded by The Roots' drummer Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson and author Angela Nissel as a loose musical collective in 1987, and evolved into an online community in 1999.
