''The Flower That Shattered the Stone'' is the 23rd studio album by American singer-songwriter John Denver. It was released in September 1990. This release consists of nine tracks taken from Denver's 21st studio album, ''Stonehaven Sunrise'' (an Australian only release in 1989); two tracks taken from his 22nd studio album, ''Earth Songs''; and a song from a Japan-only single, "The Flower That Shattered The Stone (reprise)". Some tracks were slightly remixed for this album. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. (December 31, 1943 – October 12, 1997), known professionally as John Denver, was an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, actor, activist, and humanitarian whose greatest commercial success was as a solo singer. After traveling and living in numerous locations while growing up in his military family, Denver began his music career with folk music groups during the late 1960s. Starting in the 1970s, he was one of the most popular acoustic artists of the decade and one of its best-selling artists. By 1974, he was one of America's best-selling performers; AllMusic has called Denver "among the most beloved entertainers of his era". Denver recorded and released approximately 300 songs, about 200 of which he composed. Roger Nichols (recording Engineer)
Roger Scott Nichols (September 22, 1944 – April 9, 2011) was an American recording engineer, producer, and inventor. Nichols is best known for his work with the group Steely Dan and John Denver. He was also the audio engineer for numerous major music acts including the Beach Boys, Stevie Wonder, Frank Zappa, Crosby Stills & Nash, Al Di Meola, Rosanne Cash, Roy Orbison, Cass Elliot, Plácido Domingo, Gloria Estefan, Diana Ross, Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, Rickie Lee Jones, Kenny Loggins, Mark Knopfler, Eddie Murphy, Michael McDonald, James Taylor, and Toots Thielemans, among others. On February 11, 2012, Nichols was awarded a Special Merit/Technical Grammy Award, his eighth Grammy overall. In May 2010 Nichols was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer. At the time of its release, it was only available by mail order and at John Denver's concerts. With the exception of tracks 7, 8, and 14 which are new songs; every other track on the album are new versions recorded specifically for this album. ''Christmas, Like a Lullaby'' is the 24th studio album by American singer-songwriter John Denver released in December 1990. This was Denver's first solo Christmas album of music since 1975's Rocky Mountain Christmas. He also released the collaborative Christmas album A Christmas Together in 1979 with The Muppets. The only original track was the title track "Christmas Like A Lullaby" written by Denver. Conrad Reeder (1954) (also known as Connie Reeder Nichols) is an American singer, songwriter, writer and college professor. She was married to the late producer and recording engineer Roger Nichols for over thirty years. Music career She was born in Columbus, Ohio, United States. Reeder sang for fifteen years with John Denver in live concerts, on television and recordings including Dreamland Express and It's About Time. She sang live duets with Denver as well as performing as a background singer and stayed in contact with Denver's mother after he died in a plane crash.
