Discography
Discography is the study and cataloging of published sound recordings, often by specified artists or within identified music genres. The exact information included varies depending on the type and scope of the discography, but a discography entry for a specific recording will often list such details as the names of the artists involved, the time and place of the recording, the title of the piece performed, release dates, chart positions, and sales figures.Roy Shuker. Popular Music: The Key Concepts'. Routledge, 2005. 80. A discography can also refer to the recordings catalogue of an individual artist, group, or orchestra. This is distinct from a sessionography, which is a catalogue of recording sessions, rather than a catalogue of the records, in whatever medium, that are made from those recordings. The two are sometimes confused, especially in jazz, as specific release dates for jazz records are often difficult to ascertain, and session dates are substituted as a means of organiz ...

Clouds Taste Metallic
''Clouds Taste Metallic'' is the seventh studio album by American rock band The Flaming Lips, released on September 19, 1995, by Warner Bros. Records. It was the last album to feature guitarist Ronald Jones. The album's recording is heavily featured in the ''Fearless Freaks'' documentary. ''Clouds Taste Metallic'' was projected to be the band's first commercially successful release after the major success of " She Don't Use Jelly" from their previous album '' Transmissions from the Satellite Heart'' (1993), but failed to garner the same commercial success of its predecessor. However, in recent years, it has been regarded by critics and fans as one of the Flaming Lips' best albums, and has achieved cult status. The name of the album comes from an account by former Tool bassist Paul D'Amour. After flying through a cloud in a roofless airplane, the pilot remarked: "You know, it's weird, clouds taste metallic." Track listing ''Heady Nuggs: 20 Years After Clouds Taste Metall ...

Transmissions From The Satellite Heart
''Transmissions from the Satellite Heart'' is the sixth studio album by American rock band the Flaming Lips, released in 1993 by Warner Bros. Records. The album marked the departure of Jonathan Donahue (to Mercury Rev) and Nathan Roberts, and the addition of guitarist Ronald Jones and drummer Steven Drozd. The track " She Don't Use Jelly" is notable for being the band's first charting radio hit, after its video was featured on the MTV series ''Beavis and Butt-Head ''Beavis and Butt-Head'' is an American adult animated series created by Mike Judge. The series follows Beavis and Butt-Head, both voiced by Judge, a pair of teenage slackers characterized by their apathy, lack of intelligence, lowbrow humor, ...'' nearly a year after the album's release. "Turn It On" was also a moderately successful single, and also had two different music videos, one of which was shot at a laundromat. By 2002, ''Transmissions from the Satellite Heart'' had sold 300,000 copies worldwide. T ...

Hit To Death In The Future Head
''Hit to Death in the Future Head'' is the fifth studio album by American rock band the Flaming Lips, released on August 11, 1992, by Warner Bros. Records. "Talkin' 'Bout the Smiling Deathporn Immortality Blues (Everyone Wants to Live Forever)" was released as the lead track on the EP '' Yeah, I Know It's a Drag... But Wastin' Pigs Is Still Radical'' to promote the album. The title provided the inspiration for the name of the British band the Futureheads. Recording and release Recorded in 1991 by the same lineup that had been featured on ''In a Priest Driven Ambulance'', the album's release was delayed for nearly a year due to the use of a sample from Michael Kamen's score for the film ''Brazil'' in the track "You Have to Be Joking (Autopsy of the Devil's Brain)", which required a lengthy clearance process. During the intervening period, both Nathan Roberts and Jonathan Donahue left the band (the latter resuming his duties in Mercury Rev). By the time of the album's release both ...

City Slang
City Slang is an independent record label based in Berlin, Germany. History The label was founded in 1990 by former tour agent Christof Ellinghaus, exclusively to release The Flaming Lips' '' In A Priest Driven Ambulance (With Silver Sunshine Stares)''. With bands The Lemonheads, Das Damen, and Yo La Tengo also looking for a label to release their 1990 albums, City Slang became, almost by chance, a home for US bands looking to bring their music to the European market. It was named after the song "City Slang" by Sonic's Rendezvous Band. Over the past 22 years, City Slang has played host to releases ranging from veteran acts to newcomers. Its focus on US- and Canada-based acts remains, maintaining its relationship with several key North American independent labels, such as Merge Records and Arts & Crafts. In A Priest Driven Ambulance
''In a Priest Driven Ambulance (With Silver Sunshine Stares)'' is the fourth album by The Flaming Lips, released in 1990. It is a concept album primarily focused on frontman Wayne Coyne's fascination with religion. It is generally considered among critics to be one of the Flaming Lips' greatest albums. It is the first Flaming Lips album to feature Jonathan Donahue (also of Mercury Rev) and drummer, Nathan Roberts. This line-up would subsequently be signed by Warner Bros. Records and go on to record the follow-up album, '' Hit to Death in the Future Head'' A music video for the song "Unconsciously Screamin" was shot at a religious theme park called Holy Land USA in Waterbury, Connecticut, as well as Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts and City Gardens in Trenton, New Jersey. Telepathic Surgery
''Telepathic Surgery'' is the third studio album by The Flaming Lips, released in 1989. Overview ''Telepathic Surgery'' began life as a concept album; the band initially set out to create a 30-minute sound collage. The plan was later scrapped; however, the remnants of this original idea are evident within the album's loose, meandering structure and the epic "Hell's Angel's Cracker Factory". The album is named after a line from the song "Chrome Plated Suicide". "Chrome Plated Suicide" stands out as one of the group's most accomplished early recordings, possibly due to being based on Guns N' Roses' critically acclaimed " Sweet Child o' Mine". Sub Pop asked the group to record "Drug Machine in Heaven" for their 'single of the month' series. It was retitled as "Drug Machine" and is the group's first official single. The 'A-side' was backed with "Strychnine/What's So Funny (About Peace, Love and Understanding)", a cover of "Strychnine" by The Sonics and "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Pea ...
