The Flamin' Thongs
''The Flamin' Thongs'' is an Australian children's animated television series screening on ABC3 from 9 May 2014. The 26 12-minute episodes (written by Simon Dodd and Bruce Griffiths) follow the plans of the dysfunctional Thong Family, as they try to put their small hometown of Whale Bay on the map. The family consists of parents Trevor and Brenda, their 12-year-old son Holden and 14-year-old daughter Narelle. Holden's best friend, Rerp, is a cane toad in a school uniform. The family are depicted as a stereotypical 'Aussie' family with Australian slang and iconic objects included in the show. Simon Dodd
Simon Dodd (born 7 June 1959) is an Australian comedy writer, author, playwright and feature writer. He is the recipient of ten Australian Writers' Guild AWGIE Awards as part of the writing team behind such successful TV series as '' Good News Week'' and ''The Glass House''. His list of credits includes popular Australian comedy TV shows from the late 1980s until today. He also wrote for Logies host Andrew Denton in 1999 and 2000. In 2014, he produced and directed his Absurdist comedy stage-play ''Plaything'' at the Factory Theatre for the Sydney Comedy Festival, garnering a number of positive reviews. Simon has worked with Andrew Denton, Doug Mulray, Paul McDermott, Wil Anderson and Amanda Keller. Marg Downey
Marg Downey (born 5 May 1961) is an Australian comedian and actress best known for her roles in ''The D Generation'', ''Fast Forward'' and '' Full Frontal'' Early life and education Downey grew up in a middle-class Catholic family in the Melbourne suburb of East Malvern in an eight-child family. Her father worked as a chartered accountant. She attended Sacré Cœur School with fellow comedian Jane Turner in Glen Iris, and then studied Arts/Law at the University of Melbourne, where she resided at Newman College. Rod Mullinar
Rodney Mullinar (born 1942) is a British Australian actor, noted for his roles on Australian television. He emigrated to Australia with his first wife, casting agent Liz Mullinar in 1969. Tony Martin (comedian)
Anthony Francis Martin (born 10 June 1964) is a New Zealand comedian, writer and actor, who has had a successful TV, radio, stand-up and film career in Australia. Career 1980s A former stand-up comedian and commercial voice-over-man, Tony Martin moved to Brisbane, Australia, from New Zealand when he was 21 to work as a radio copywriter.
