The First Fantasy Campaign
''The First Fantasy Campaign'' is a supplement for fantasy role-playing games written by Dave Arneson and published by Judges Guild in 1977. Description Dave Arneson created a new type of game in 1970, something he called "Blackmoor". After he demonstrated his game to Gary Gygax in 1972, Gygax proposed that the two of them work together to codify a set of rules for a new game, which subsequently became ''Dungeons & Dragons''. Gygax also founded TSR to publish the original set of rules in 1974. The following year, TSR published ''Blackmoor'', which outlined supplemental rules for ''D&D'' and included Arneson's sample adventure "Temple of the Frog"; however, despite its title, ''Blackmoor'' contained very little information about Arneson's Blackmoor campaign world. Arneson came to work at TSR in 1976 as Director of Research, but he and Gygax had very different visions of role-playing, and the creative differences between the two proved irreconcilable. Judges Guild
Judges Guild is a game publisher that has been active since 1976. The company created and sold many role-playing game supplements, periodicals and related materials, but became best known during the late 1970s and early 1980s as one of the leading publishers of ''Dungeons & Dragons'' related materials. Don Turnbull (game Designer)
Don Turnbull was a journalist, editor, games designer, and an accomplished piano and pinball player. He was particularly instrumental in introducing ''Dungeons & Dragons'' into the UK, both as the managing director of TSR UK Ltd and as the editor of the ''Fiend Folio''. Chainmail (game)
''Chainmail'' is a medieval miniature wargame created by Gary Gygax and Jeff Perren. Gygax developed the core medieval system of the game by expanding on rules authored by his fellow Lake Geneva Tactical Studies Association (LGTSA) member Perren, a hobby-shop owner with whom he had become friendly. Guidon Games released the first edition of ''Chainmail'' in 1971. Evil Hat Productions is a company that produces role-playing games and other tabletop games. Chief among them is the free indie RPG, ''Fate'', which has won numerous awards. History Fred Hicks had been working with Lydia Leong, Rob Donoghue, and others to run LARPs at AmberCon NorthWest starting in 1999, and came up with the name Evil Hat for themselves. ''Pegasus'' was a gaming magazine published from 1981 to 1983 by Judges Guild. Contents ''Pegasus'' was a magazine containing a 32-page supplement in each issue, plus articles on AD&D variants, new magic and monsters, tips on gamemastering, fiction and reviews. ''The Fantasy Roleplaying Gamer's Bible'' is a book detailing fantasy role-playing games (RPGs), written by Sean Patrick Fannon and published by Obsidian Studios Inc. in 1996. ''Blackmoor'' is a supplementary rulebook (product designation TSR 2004) of the original edition of the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' fantasy role-playing game written by Dave Arneson (with a foreword by Gary Gygax). Contents ''Blackmoor,'' the second supplement to the original ''Dungeons & Dragons'' rules, is known for its introduction of rules for underwater adventures and hit location, and the addition of the monk and assassin character classes.
