The Ferryman (play)
''The Ferryman'' is a 2017 play by Jez Butterworth. Set during The Troubles, it tells the story of the family of a former IRA activist, living in their farmhouse in rural County Armagh, Northern Ireland in 1981. Productions ''The Ferryman'' had its world premiere at the Royal Court Theatre on 24 April 2017 running to 20 May, directed by Sam Mendes. It was the fastest-selling play in Royal Court Theatre history. Jeremy "Jez" Butterworth (born March 1969) is an English playwright, screenwriter, and film director. He has written screenplays in collaboration with his brothers, John-Henry Butterworth, John-Henry and Tom. Life and career In March 1969, Butterworth was born in London, England. He has three brothers: older brothers Tom (born 1966) and Steve (born 1968); and younger brother John-Henry Butterworth, John-Henry (born 1976). He also has a sister, Joanna. He attended Verulam School, Verulam Comprehensive School, St Albans and St John's College, Cambridge. Dearbhla Molloy
Dearbhla Molloy (; born 1946) is an Irish actress. Early life Molloy was born to John Molloy and Evelyn Ryan and grew up on Yellow Walls Road in Malahide, County Dublin, Ireland, the eldest of seven children. She attended an Irish-language school and finished her Leaving Certificate exams at the age of 16. As she was too young for university, she took a drama course at the Brendan Smith Academy before being accepted by the Abbey Theatre when she was 18. Career Molloy consolidated her stage reputation at both the Abbey and Gate theatres in Dublin, then she toured with an Abbey production to Britain. Maureen Jane Beattie (born 14 August 1953) is an Irish-born, Scottish actress of both stage and screen. Early life Beattie was born in Bundoran, County Donegal on 14 August 1953, as the daughter of Scottish actor and comedian Johnny Beattie, who appeared as Malcolm Hamilton in Glasgow drama ''River City'', and his wife Kitty Lamont.
