The Favorite (1976 Film)
The Favorite (russian: Фаворит, Favorit) is a two-part film based on the 1962 detective novel of British writer Dick Francis, '' Dead Cert''. For the first time the Soviet Central Television was demonstrated on 13 and 14 September 1977. Plot After the death of Bill Davidson at the races, his friend the jockey Alan York (Arnis Licitis) learns that this was not an accident. Attempts to establish a murder client lead him to the disclosure of a whole criminal group, headed by a person close to him. He gradually penetrates deep into intrigue, connected not only with the jumps on which Bill died, but also with a local gang of taxi drivers. Not only love and the desire for the hostess of the new racehorse, Kate, which Alan must ride, but also the debt to Bill's wife, forces him to ask the same questions over and over again. Arnis Līcītis (8 January 1946 – 21 January 2022) was a Latvian actor. Life and career Born in Riga in 1946, Līcītis was the son of actors and Helga Līcīte. He attended secondary school at Riga State Gymnasium No.1 and subsequently graduated from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. He became an actor in the troupes of the Latvian National Theatre, the Valmiera Drama Theatre, the , and the Riga Russian Theatre. He then began working for the Riga Film Studio in 1965. Elza Radziņa (1917, Kharkiv, Russian Empire — 2005, Riga, Latvia) was a Soviet Latvian theater and cinema actress, and a master of the spoken word (reader). She received People's Artist of the USSR award in 1976 and the Order of the Three Stars in 1995. She studied at the Jelgava Theater Studio in 1942. After World War II, she worked at the Jelgava Drama theater (1945-1953). She briefly worked at the Valmiera Drama Theatre, but from 1954, she worked at the Latvian National Theatre, where she became one of its leading actresses.
