The Faith Healer
''The Faith Healer'' is a lost 1921 American silent drama film directed by George Melford and written by Z. Wall Covington and Mrs. William Vaughn Moody from William Vaughn Moody's play. The film stars Milton Sills, Ann Forrest, Fontaine La Rue, Frederick Vroom, Loyola O'Connor, Mae Giraci, and John Curry. The film was released on March 13, 1921, by Paramount Pictures. Plot Rhoda Williams is an orphan and the mistress of Dr. Littlefield. She sees a disabled man restored to good health by Michaelis a young shepherd with the power of faith healing. She summons Michaelis to her disabled aunt's house, he cures the woman of her paralysis problem, and Rhoda tells him of her difficult life. After that, Michaelis falls in love with her. Later, he is called to cure a woman's sick baby, but he fails to do that. He thinks that his power loss is a result of his love for Rhoda. George Melford
George H. Melford (born George Henry Knauff, February 19, 1877 – April 25, 1961) was an American stage and film actor and director. Often taken for granted as a director today, the stalwart Melford's name by the 1920s was, like Cecil B. DeMille's, appearing in big bold letters above the title of his films. Early years Born in Rochester, New York, in 1877 (though older sources state 1888), he was the son of German immigrant Henrietta Knauff. Melford had four sisters: Mary Knauff (Mrs. Godfrey Willis Wainwright); Henrietta Knauff; Alice Irene Knauff (Mrs. Edmond Francois Bernoudy) — all of Los Angeles — and Mrs. Frederick Kells/Keils of Ottawa, Canada. Studio System by Gracenote, formerly known as Baseline StudioSystems, is an American e-commerce company. It was founded in 1982 and licenses its commercial entertainment database, known as Studio System. It is owned by Gracenote, a subsidiary of Nielsen Holdings. Winifred Greenwood
Winifred Greenwood (January 1, 1885 – November 23, 1961) was an American silent film actress. Born in 1885 in Geneseo, New York, Greenwood studied to be a teacher but left New York Normal School to perform in vaudeville in the United States and Canada. Greenwood's career began in vaudeville, performing with the Kings Carnival Company in Canada and the United States. She went on to act with stock theater companies, one of which she headed. She was signed in 1910 and starred in over 200 films before her retirement in 1927. She starred in a number of films with Charlotte Burton including ''The Shriner's Daughter'' in 1913. She was married to actor George Field from 1913 to 1918. She died in 1961, age 76 in Woodland Hills, California.
