The Exciters (film)
''The Exciters'' is a 1923 American silent romantic comedy film produced by Famous Players-Lasky and distributed through Paramount Pictures. It is based on a 1922 Broadway play of the same name by Martin Brown. This film was directed by Maurice Campbell and stars Bebe Daniels, then a popular Paramount contract star. On the Broadway stage, Bebe Daniels's role of Ronnie Rand was played by Tallulah Bankhead. Plot As described in a film magazine review, Ronnie Rand, a young woman who loves excitement of all kinds and whose watchword is speed, is obliged to marry by a certain day or lose a rich inheritance. Through dramatic circumstances, she meets Pierre Martel, a member of a band of crooks. Thinking that he is a man's man, Ronnie marries him. Martel's confederates seek to blackmail Ronnie and when she refuses to sign a check, they attempt to kill Martel, but he is saved by the police. Diana Allen (1898 – June 12, 1949) was a Swedish-American actress and Ziegfeld girl who starred in silent films such as 1921's ''Miss 139'',Wollstein, Henry JStrangers in Hollywood: the History of Scandinavian Actors in American Films from 1910 to World War II(1994) which is now lost. Lost Film
A lost film is a feature or short film that no longer exists in any studio archive, private collection, public archive or the U.S. Library of Congress. Conditions During most of the 20th century, U.S. copyright law required at least one copy of every American film to be deposited at the Library of Congress at the time of copyright registration, but the Librarian of Congress was not required to retain those copies: "Under the provisions of the act of March 4, 1909, authority is granted for the return to the claimant of copyright of such copyright deposits as are not required by the Library." Erville Alderson
Erville Alderson (September 11, 1882 – August 4, 1957) was an American character actor, usually portraying strong-willed or wise men. He appeared in nearly 200 films between 1918 and 1957. Life Alderson was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He married Lillian Worth, an American actress, on January 14, 1918 in Sydney, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. By 1925, the couple were divorced. Alderson's work in films included portraying Jefferson Davis as a young Army officer in ''Santa Fe Trail'' (1940). Alderson died in Glendale, California. Henry Sedley (actor)
Henry McDonald Sedley (1881–1962) was an American actor. He caused the death of a fellow student while a freshman at Yale University in 1901, which may have been the reason for a young woman being banned by her grandmother from marrying him. Prior to achieving fame in silent film, he owned several racehorses and was a champion jockey. Born in New York in 1881, he attended St. Paul's school, Andover, and the Sheffield Scientific School at Yale University, though he did not complete a degree at Yale. He bought a 70 foot racing yacht from Alfred G. Vanderbilt, and was described as a bon vivant. When a freshman at Yale in 1901, he caused the death of a classmate, Edward F. Corrigan. He was expelled from Yale in the aftermath. In 1907 he reached a settlement for $300. About the same time, Oliver Barnes, a wealthy friend from Reno, Nevada, took Sedley under his wing and assisted his transition into the film industry.
