''The Eraser Rmxs'' is a remix album of songs from ''The Eraser'', the debut studio album by English musician Thom Yorke. The album was originally intended for release in Japan only on 28 May 2008, and later 25 June 2008, by Warner Bros. Records. It was eventually released on 27 August 2008. It contains 9 remixes of 8 tracks from Yorke's 2006 solo album ''The Eraser'' by various electronica, dubstep, and techno artists. The remixes had earlier been released in the UK by XL Recordings as three EPs, each comprising three tracks. The EPs were first released as downloads in December 2007, then on 12" vinyl records in early 2008. Critical reception ''The Eraser Rmxs'' received mixed reviews from music critics, with most viewing the release as unnecessary. Resident Advisor's Daniel Bates said "These nine reworks presented a chance to make amends, but most of the remixers seem to have fallen into the same habit Yorke did: playing it safe", though praised the remixes of "Harrowdown Hill ... Thom Yorke
Thomas Edward Yorke (born 7 October 1968) is an English musician and the main vocalist and songwriter of the rock band Radiohead. A multi-instrumentalist, he mainly plays guitar and keyboards and is noted for his falsetto. He has been described by ''Rolling Stone'' as one of the most influential singers of his generation. Yorke formed Radiohead with schoolmates at Abingdon School in Oxfordshire, and studied at the University of Exeter. In 1991, Radiohead signed to Parlophone; their 1992 debut single, " Creep", made Yorke a celebrity, and Radiohead went on to achieve critical acclaim and sales of over 30 million albums. ''Pitchfork'' (formerly ''Pitchfork Media'') is an American online music publication (currently owned by Condé Nast) that was launched in 1995 by writer Ryan Schreiber as an independent music blog. Schreiber started Pitchfork while working at a record store in suburban Minneapolis, and the website earned a reputation for its extensive coverage of indie rock music. It has since expanded and covers all kinds of music, including pop. Pitchfork was sold to Condé Nast in 2015, although Schreiber remained its editor-in-chief until he left the website in 2019. Various Productions
Various, or Various Production, is an English dubstep/electronic music duo formed in 2002. The group blends samples, acoustic and electronic instrumentation, and singing from a revolving cast of vocalists. Its members, Adam and Ian, purposefully give very little information about the group or themselves, and tend to do little in the way of self-promotion. Nevertheless, the group began winning critical acclaim with its single releases in 2005 and 2006, with singers Rachel Thomas Davies and Nicola Kearey. Their full-length for XL, ''The World is Gone'', arrived in July 2006. They have released a large number of vinyl EPs and 7" records, as well as digital exclusives for Rough Trade, iTunes, and Boomkat. "Analyse" is a song by Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke and is the second track on his 2006 album ''The Eraser''. The song was released on 30 October as a digital download and on 6 November as a limited edition 12" single in the United Kingdom. Cristian Vogel (born 1972) is an Chilean experimental electronic musician. Biography Vogel was born in Chile and moved to England in the early 1980s with his family, fleeing from the government of Augusto Pinochet. Vogel first began working with electronic compositions in the late 1980s with the Cabbage Head Collective (working with Si Begg, among others). He attended the University of Sussex and graduated with a degree in modern music there, suffusing his techno compositions with influences from ''musique concrete'' and other avant-garde styles. Axel Willner is a Swedish electronic music producer and DJ from Stockholm and currently based in Berlin, best known for his releases as The Field, blending micro-samples of pop songs into atmospheric minimal techno. Modeselektor
Modeselektor is a German electronic music duo consisting of Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary. History The group members met in 1992 in Berlin with group member Szary performing live acid house music at illegal underground parties, under the moniker Fundamental Knowledge. The group says, "After the Wall came down, everywhere in Germany and especially East Germany there was a lot of chaos, anarchy." Both soon joined forces and began creating music as Modeselektor, a name taken from a function on the Roland Space Echo analog delay effects unit. Kevin Martin (British Musician)
Kevin Richard Martin, often known under his recording alias The Bug, is an English musician and music producer. Martin moved from Weymouth to London around 1990 and is now currently based in mainland Europe. He has been active for over two decades in the genres of dub, jazzcore, industrial hip hop, dancehall, and dubstep. Martin's projects include GOD, Techno Animal, Ice, Curse of the Golden Vampire, Pressure and, most recently, King Midas Sound (with poet Roger Robinson and singer/visual artist Kiki Hitomi) and The Bug vs Earth. "Harrowdown Hill" is a song by the singer Thom Yorke, released on 21 August 2006 as the first single from his debut solo album ''The Eraser''. Yorke wrote it about the death of David Kelly, a British weapons expert who told a reporter that the British government had falsely identified weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. "Harrowdown Hill" reached number 23 on the UK Singles Chart. A music video was released on 31 July 2006. Writing "Harrowdown Hill" was released on Yorke's debut solo album, ''The Eraser'' (2006), recorded while Yorke's band Radiohead were on hiatus. According to the ''Globe and Mail'', it resembles a love song with a sense of "menace" and "grim political showdown". Anthony Child (born 1 May 1971), better known as Surgeon, is an English electronic musician and DJ. Child releases music on his own labels Counterbalance and Dynamic Tension. Established imprints, such as Tresor, Soma, and Harthouse, have also released Surgeon's original material and remixes. He has also been recognized as one of the first wave of DJs to use Ableton Live and Final Scratch to supplement his DJ sets. History Child grew up in Kislingbury, in Northamptonshire, England. William Emmanuel Bevan, known by his recording alias Burial, is a British electronic musician from South London. Initially remaining anonymous, Burial became the first artist signed to Kode9's electronic label Hyperdub in 2005. He won acclaim the following year for his self-titled debut album, an influential release in the UK's dubstep scene which showcased a dark, emotive take on UK rave music styles such as UK garage and 2-step; it was named the album of the year by ''The Wire''.
