The first season of the British-American animated comedy children's television series '' The Amazing World of Gumball'' originally aired from May 3, 2011, to March 13, 2012, on Cartoon Network, and was produced by Cartoon Network Development Studio Europe, in association with Boulder Media and Dandelion Studios. Consisting of 36 episodes, the season premiered with the episode "The DVD" and concluded with the episode "The Fight". The season premiere was watched by 2.120 million viewers in the United States. Development Plot The season focuses on the misadventures of Gumball Watterson, a blue 12-year-old cat, along with his adopted brother, Darwin, a 10-year-old goldfish. Charles Herbert Klein (October 7, 1904 – March 28, 1958), nicknamed the "Hoosier Hammer", was an American professional baseball outfielder. Klein played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Philadelphia Phillies (–, –, –), Chicago Cubs (–), and Pittsburgh Pirates (). Klein led the National League (NL) in home runs four times, and won the NL Most Valuable Player Award in 1932. In 1933 he became one of six (at the time) NL players to win a batting Triple Crown. Benjamin Bocquelet (born June 27, 1980) is a French-British animator, writer, director and producer, best known as the creator of the hit Cartoon Network animated series ''The Amazing World of Gumball.'' He was also the director of a short film called ''The Hell's Kitchen'' in 2003. When Cartoon Network Development Studio Europe was created in 2007, Bocquelet was hired in order to help people pitch their projects to Cartoon Network after the dismissal of Nickelodeon and Jetix subdivisions of Europe. However, when the studio decided to have its employees all pitch their own ideas, he decided to take some of the rejected characters he had created for commercials and put them all in one series, with a school setting.
