''The Eleventh Hour'' is the fourth full-length studio album by the band Jars of Clay. It was released in 2002 by Essential Records and marked the band's first attempt at producing a full album by themselves. Overview When writing the group's fourth album, Jars of Clay enlisted Dennis Herring, who produced the band's ''If I Left the Zoo'' album, to produce, but due to scheduling difficulties, Herring decided to pull out of the project, leading to the band's first attempt at producing by themselves. Though not initially intending to produce the album themselves, the group took on this and many other aspects of putting the album together they had not before, such as artwork and even filming ''Ten:Thirty: The Making of The Eleventh Hour'' video. If I Left The Zoo
''If I Left the Zoo'' is the third full-length studio album of the band Jars of Clay. It was released November 9, 1999, by Essential Records. Overview The band's third album brought about another stylistic shift, away from the lush sound of ''Much Afraid'' and into more of a raw and quirky pop/rock sound with occasional folk overtones. Keyboard player Charlie Lowell was featured much more prominently on this album. Due to the influence of producer Dennis Herring and drummer Ben Mize, this album had more of a Counting Crows influence. This album produced several Christian radio singles, most notably "Unforgetful You", which also appeared in the soundtrack to the 1999 film ''Drive Me Crazy''. Album title The band found a picture in a stock book of an elephant whom they have affectionately named 'Agnes. They bought the picture for the album cover and then had to come up with a title. Stephen Daniel Mason (born July 8, 1975) is an American musician best known as the lead guitarist for Christian alternative folk rock group Jars of Clay. As a submission piece to get into college, Mason wrote an instrumental guitar piece entitled " Frail" which was later recorded and used as the namesake for the group's first demo '' Frail''. Accordion
Accordions (from 19th-century German ''Akkordeon'', from ''Akkord''—"musical chord, concord of sounds") are a family of box-shaped musical instruments of the bellows-driven free-reed aerophone type (producing sound as air flows past a reed in a frame), colloquially referred to as a squeezebox. Retrieved 9 August 2007. is an American pianist most known for being the pianist and keyboardist for Christian alternative folk rock group Jars of Clay. Biography Lowell was raised in Rochester, New York, where he attended McQuaid Jesuit High School. Lowell attended Greenville College as a musical studies major. While there, Lowell spotted another student wearing a T-shirt for the band Toad the Wet Sprocket. He introduced himself to this man whose name was Dan Haseltine, who was also studying music at Greenville. The two began making music with guitarist Steve Mason and eventually formed the band Jars of Clay. The group added a fourth member, Matt Bronleewe, after a short while, as an additional guitarist. Daniel Paul Haseltine (born January 12, 1973) is an American singer best known as lead vocalist for Christian alternative folk rock group Jars of Clay. Haseltine has performed vocals, piano, accordion, percussion and melodica, while with Jars of Clay. He has had different artistic titles, including songwriter, producer, film composer, music supervisor and art designer. Haseltine is also the founder of the non-profit organization, Blood:Water Mission, where he currently sits as part of the board of directors.
