''The Eighteen Year Old'' (german: Die Achtzehnjährigen) is a 1927 German silent drama film directed by Manfred Noa and starring Andrée Lafayette, Ernő Verebes, and Frida Richard. It was made at the Staaken Studios in Berlin. The film's sets were designed by Karl Machus Karl Machus (1884–1944) was a German art director. Manfred Noa
Manfred Noa (22 March 1893 – 5 December 1930) was a German film director. Noa was described by Vilma Bánky, who he directed twice, as her "favourite director". Noa's 1924 film ''Helena (1924 film), Helena'' has been called his "masterpiece" although it was so expensive that it seriously damaged the finances of Bavaria Film.Schildgen p.42 Noa is perhaps best known today for his 1922 film ''Nathan the Wise (film), Nathan the Wise'', an adaptation of Gotthold Ephraim Lessing's 1779 Nathan the Wise, play of the same title, which made a plea for religious tolerance. He was the third husband of the actress Eva May, who was the daughter of his fellow director Joe May. Noa died 5 December 1930 in Berlin of peritonitis. Loo Hardy
Charlotte "Loo" Hardy (born Charlotte Noa; 11 January 1898 – 23 April 1938) was a German film actress of the silent era. She later emigrated to England where she died by suicide from an overdose of narcotics. Death Noa's body was found in her flat in Cleveland Square, Paddington. An inquest was held on 26 April 1938, which referred to her as Mrs Charlotte Levi. Fritz Richard
Fritz Richard (born Josef Richard Löwit; 17 November 1869 – 9 February 1933) was an Austrian actor and theatre director. Fritz Richard was born as Josef Richard Löwit in Chotěboř, Austria-Hungary into a Jewish family. Richard trained as a stenographer and took acting lessons in Vienna at the Pauline Loewe Theatre School. His first engagement as a stage actor was in Mülheim in 1886. He then appeared at various Austrian and German provincial theatres. From Metz in 1905 his path took him to Berlin, where he mainly worked at the Deutsches Theater and the Lessing Theater. He was part of Max Reinhardt's ensemble. He was particularly successful in Karl Schönherr's ''Der Weibsteufel and as Jedermann''. From 1913 Richard also took part in numerous silent films. Richard married his fellow student Friederike Raithel in 1898, who later also became an actress under the name Frida Richard. Richard died in Berlin shortly after Adolf Hitler came to power.
