The East Is Red (1993 Film)
''The East Is Red'' (also known as ''Swordsman III''; released in the Philippines as ''The Great China Warrior''), is a 1993 Hong Kong wuxia film. The main character in the film is loosely based on Dongfang Bubai, a character in Louis Cha's novel '' The Smiling, Proud Wanderer''. The film was produced by Tsui Hark, was co-directed by Ching Siu-tung and Raymond Lee and starred Brigitte Lin, Joey Wong and Yu Rongguang. The film is regarded as a sequel to '' The Swordsman'' and ''Swordsman II''. Plot Following Dongfang Bubai's apparent death in ''Swordsman II'', the '' jianghu'' (martial artists' community) disintegrates into chaos as it lacks a dominant figure to serve as a ''de facto'' leader. Ching Siu-tung
Ching Siu-tung (Chinese: 程小東, born October 31st, 1953), also known as Tony Ching, is a Hong Kong action choreographer, actor, film director and producer, who has directed over 20 films, including the critically acclaimed supernatural fantasy ''A Chinese Ghost Story'' (1987). He produced the expensive music video for "L'Âme-Stram-Gram" by the French singer Mylène Farmer in the style of ''A Chinese Ghost Story'' at a cost of €1 million. He studied in the Eastern Drama Academy and trained in Northern Style Kung Fu for 7 years. Eddy Ko
Eddy Ko Hung (; born Ho Yiu-sum ; 1947) is a Hong Kong television and film actor who has worked on the TV stations RTV, ATV (both now defunct), and TVB. Most recently, he has made appearances in several international films including 2015's ''The Martian''. Background Ko was born Ho Yiu-sum in Zhongshan in 1947.
