The Earth Tower
Earth Tower is a 400-room, tower located at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut. History In 1995, Mohegan Sun asked Kohn Pedersen Fox, an architectural firm, to design a new hotel based on the 1,200-room Sky Tower, which was also designed by the firm. The project was held off until 2008, when Mohegan Sun publicly announced plans to build the hotel, however the Great Recession further delayed construction. The groundbreaking finally took place in March 2015 with A/Z Corporation hired to construct the tower. The Earth Tower was opened on November 18, 2016. Features The tower has a pool, a spa, and a fitness center. There are gas fire pits outside. Earth Tower has 400 rooms, with 39 suites. Earth Tower is connected to the Casino of the Earth, and is therefore connected to all the casinos of Mohegan Sun. There is also a hallway that connects the Earth Tower to the Sky Tower lobby. Mohegan Indian Tribe
The Mohegan Tribe () is a federally recognized tribe and sovereign tribal nation of the Mohegan people. Their reservation is the Mohegan Indian Reservation, located on the Thames River in Uncasville, Connecticut. Mohegan's independence as a sovereign nation has been documented by treaties and laws for over 350 years, such as the Treaty of Hartford secured by their Sachem (Chief) Uncas after his cooperation and victory with the English in the Pequot War (1637–1638). Although the Treaty of Hartford established English recognition of the tribe's sovereignty in 1638, after the colonial period and loss of lands, the tribe struggled to maintain recognition of its identity. Mohegan Sun is an American casino, owned and operated by the Mohegan Tribe on of their reservation, along the banks of the Thames River in Uncasville, Connecticut. It has of gambling space. Great Recession
The Great Recession was a period of marked general decline, i.e. a recession, observed in national economies globally that occurred from late 2007 into 2009. Foxwoods Resort Casino is a hotel and casino complex owned and operated by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation on their reservation located in Ledyard, Connecticut. Including six casinos, the resort covers an area of . The casinos have more than 250 gaming tables for blackjack, craps, roulette, and poker, and have more than 5,500 slot machines.
