''The Donnas'' is the debut studio album by American rock band The Donnas, released in 1997, re-released in 1998. (See 1998 in music). The last nine tracks on the re-released version are bonus tracks; they are the nine tracks that were released on three singles prior to the original release of this album. As of 2005 it has sold 25,000 units in United States according to Nielsen SoundScan. The Donnas
The Donnas were an American rock band formed in Palo Alto, California, in 1993. The band consisted of Brett Anderson (lead vocals), Allison Robertson (guitar, backing vocals), Maya Ford (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Torry Castellano (drums, percussion, backing vocals). Amy Cesari replaced Castellano, who left the band in 2009 due to tendonitis. They drew inspiration from the Ramones, The Runaways, Girlschool, AC/DC, Bachman–Turner Overdrive and Kiss. ''Rolling Stone'' has stated that "the Donnas offer a guileless take on adolescent alienation; they traffic in kicks, not catharsis, fun rather than rage". MTV has stated that the band offers "a good old-fashioned rock & roll party". Ellie Greenwich
Eleanor Louise Greenwich (October 23, 1940 – August 26, 2009) was an American pop music singer, songwriter, and record producer. She wrote or co-wrote "Da Doo Ron Ron", "Be My Baby", "Maybe I Know", " Then He Kissed Me", "Do Wah Diddy Diddy", "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)", " Hanky Panky", "Chapel of Love", "Leader of the Pack", and "River Deep – Mountain High", among others. Torry Castellano
Torrance Heather Castellano (born January 8, 1979) is an American percussionist and the former drummer of The Donnas. She announced her retirement from drumming in July 2010. About Castellano was born in San Francisco, California. She met future bandmates Maya Ford, Brett Anderson (The Donnas), Brett Anderson and Allison Robertson in junior high school. They formed a band in 8th grade called ''Ragady Anne'', later calling themselves ''The Electrocutes'' at Palo Alto High School. Before the release of The Donnas' sixth studio album ''Gold Medal (album), Gold Medal'', Castellano developed tendinitis, tendonitis and in October 2003, she had surgery for it. During her recovery, she had to take drum lessons to re-learn to hold drum sticks the correct way. Bass Guitar
The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. Maya Anne Ford (born January 8, 1979, in Oakland, California) is an American musician and the former bass player of rock band The Donnas. She also goes by the name Donna F. Guitar
The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. Allison Rae Robertson (born August 26, 1979) is an American musician and the former guitarist for rock bands The Donnas and Chelsea Girls. Early life Allison Robertson was born on August 26, 1979, in North Hollywood, California. She comes from a musical family. Her father is musician Baxter Robertson who wrote the track "Feel The Night" on ''The Karate Kid'' soundtrack. Her mother, Lisa Jimenez, worked for A&M Records and for a variety of music publishing companies in Los Angeles prior to the family relocating to Palo Alto in the early 1980s. Although she was born in North Hollywood, she later moved to Palo Alto, California, early in her childhood. She started to play guitar at the age of 12.
