The Donkeys are an American indie band from San Diego, California, United States, that consist of Timothy DeNardo, Jessie Gulati, Anthony Lukens, and Sam Sprague. History Their style of music has been compared Pavement, the Grateful Dead, and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. They are signed to the label Dead Oceans. The band were nominated for best rock band for the San Diego Music Awards in 2011 and 2012, and won the award in 2012. Their song "Excelsior Lady" was featured as a song by the fictional band Geronimo Jackson on the TV show ''Lost''. Treefort Music Fest
The Treefort Music Fest is a five-day, indie rock festival which is held at numerous venues throughout downtown Boise, Idaho in late March. The inaugural 2012 festival took place March 20–23 with the featured acts Built to Spill, The Joy Formidable, and Poliça. Treefort has been called "the west’s best SXSW alternative" and "Boise's preeminent artistic, cultural and musical happening" which has "morphed from quirky music festival to consuming community event." Formed by Joe Pernice in 1998 after the breakup of his old band, the Scud Mountain Boys, and including Joe's brother Bob Pernice, the band recorded their first album, '' Overcome by Happiness'', for Sub Pop in 1998. Thom Monahan is an American producer/engineer and musician who is best known for his work with the bands Pernice Brothers, Fruit Bats and Vetiver. He has also produced albums by Devendra Banhart, Wild Nothing, Beachwood Sparks, and the Chris Robinson Brotherhood. Biography Thom Monahan was the bassist and singer of Connecticut indie-rock band Monsterland from 1991 to 1994, the bassist for Lilys from 1995 to 1998, and a member of the Pernice Brothers from 1998 to 2005.
